Annika's POV
"I'd die for these pancakes." Julio moans as he takes his 500th bite of Pedro's award winning blueberry and banana pancakes. We chuckle, but all nod in agreement as we silently scarf down our own pancakes. Harper and Gio both ordered strawberry pancakes and I on the other hand chose regular pancakes. The basic and classic route.Your last meal.
What if this was my last meal? What if whatever is about to happen to me leaves me unable to eat pancakes ever again? Or worse. I die and I'll never be able to eat pancakes again! I have to think. Profesor Dearius obviously knew something was up. How? I'm not sure. Maybe I should go back and ask him, but that would be stupid since when I was there I had that feeling that I shouldn't. I think the twins know something, but that wouldn't make sense. Maybe I-
"For the love of GOD! ANNIKA!" I hear someone scream. I look up from my zoned out state and lock eyes with the Harper who is staring at me like I'm wearing pairs of balls as earrings.
"Y-Yeah what's up." I respond looking down and cutting my pancakes. The triplets always know when something is up with me. Sometimes it's so nice to have friends who know you, but at the same time it absolutely sucks nuts.
"The hell is up with you today?" Gio asks as he bites his pancakes. Harper and Julio nod hoping to figure out the problem.
"Nothing. I'm fine, honestly just thinking of my grams." I know it was a low blow and regret it as soon as it leaves me mouth, but I just dint want to talk about the dream again. My grandma is in the hospital currently battling breast cancer and I shouldn't be using her as an excuse like this, but if I told them what was really up they'd just tell me to leave it alone. They'd just say it's nothing again, but I know in my heart it's way more than nothing! She was one of my last options okay?
"Oh babe." Harper pouts as she scoots over in the booth to hug me. "She's fine! You already know your granny is a bad bitch. We've only known her for years and we know how strong, bad ass, and stubborn she is. She isn't going anywhere." She says while giving me a very tight hug. I feel bad because I already know this. My grandma is like Superman. She's not dying. It's just a bump in the road....well more like a bump in her breast but whatever. Nodding to her small little speech I peep that we've all finished our breakfast/lunch/snack and I decide that since I'm a lying piece of shit I should pay. I slap down 35 to pay and some tips for Pedro the man, and we all grab our stuff and go.
"Anyway what are we doing for this weekend?" I question my little group of friends.
"We're going to Fernando's party I told you." Harper responds.
"Oh you were serious about going to your ex's party?" Scratching my head I turn to her hoping she was joking.
"Dead serious love."
I turn to look at her brothers for backup but they both simply look at me and raise their hands in a surrendering position. I roll my eyes and begin to walk towards our apartment which is about a 10 minute walk from Pedro's.
It's a big apartment honestly. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a huge living room. The boys share a room while Harper and I each have our own room. The boys liked the living situation only because they have been tied to the hip since they were babies. Harper has always been the independent in our group, me and the boys always needed backup to do anything. It's pretty pricey, but with four people living there with good playing jobs and one doing an internship we make some good cash.
Zoned out to the max, I don't notice the screaming behind me. Once I do though it's too late. I question them and I suppose that was my mistake. I should've just ran. I should've reacted! Someone grabs me and I'm shoved in the back of a car and before I can react we're speeding off into the opposite direction my friends and I were walking in towards. The last thing I see before a black bag is put over my head is my three best friends sprinting like track stars towards the vehicle, and Gio nearly catching us before the driver speeds up. I'm pretty sure whoever is driving could win NASCAR.
"Hi." I say feeling less awkward and more scared.
"Hello Nik ." Someone says. I laugh as I've never heard this nickname before. Nik. Maybe they can call me Ann, or Nika. Maybe not Nika, but something exotic like that.
"Wh-What do you want from me?" I say shakily. My lip begins to quiver as the situation begins to register.
"Because someone very important is expecting your presence." The same person responds, except this time they pat my head.
"Who? Why? I don't want to see them! Take me back! Please! Just take me back!" I begin to get frantic and hit the person closest to me.
"SHIT! She hit me in my eye!" Someone yells. Soon enough multiple hands are grabbing at my limbs trying to hold me down.
"You'll see in due time my darling flower. In due time."
And with that the conversation is over and I'm left in my sheer state of panic. My heart starts to beat at a rapid pace and I feel bile rise in my throat. At this point all I can hear is the white noise of the world and everything else disappears from me. I feel like I've drowned, but I can't die. Hopefully whoever this person is who wants to see me is the nicest person on this planet because with my history of a, I can't handle it.
