"And then Zeus fell off the swing and broke his neck, and was walking around as if his head wasn't nearly rolling off his shoulders!" Hades barked and I gasped in disbelief.
"So you're telling me he didn't feel a thing?"
"Oh no little mouse he felt it, but father always said emotion was for the weak." Hades said while making a faux serious face. I chortled and rolled my eyes at the thought of someone saying that emotion was a sign of frailty. We continued to eat and laugh over our meal in the dining hall, and once we were done Hades decided to drag me out of the castle.
"Hades, where are you taking me?" I said sloppily following behind him as he pulled me by my wrist towards his....Lamborghini? "How the hell do you have a Lamborghini down here?"
"If I tell you everything, there will be no more mystery for the eternity we'll share." He said turning and winking at me. I blushed and shut up for the first time in my life. We finally made it to the car and with a few protest from me, Hades pushed me into the passenger seat. He quickly skipped to the other side and before I could blink we were zooming off onto the roads of the underworld.
"Hades! Would you mind slowing down?" I asked utterly terrified.
"Why? It's not like either of us can die?" He said shrugging. He turned to face me and sped up.
"But we can still feel pain you douche!" I yell hanging on to his arm like it would save me. He laughed and slowed down a pinch, but not enough for me to calm down. I still hung onto his arm like he was my lifeline.
Minutes passed and soon we were on a busy road full of people. Why were there were people in a land of the dead? Don't ask me.
"Welcome to the best part of the underworld!" Hades booms. I jump at the sound of his voice, and he laughs at my sudden jolt.
"What is this place?" I ask. I notice that the people around me aren't the only things that are out of place. Skyscrapers stand erect all around us.
"This here little mouse, is the place where everyone in the underworld comes to shop, play, and be together. It isn't ACTUALLY hell here you know."
"Of course not! I just...I just didn't expect anything like this here." I say. I gaze out of the window and see plenty of stores. Plenty of which are on the main surface. It's insane how that works.
We continue to drive and as we do I feel much looser and safer. We drove through the maze of stores and bustling dead and somehow found our way near the volcanoes I saw when I first came here.
"Hades, how did I see the volcanoes from your place, but not that ass huge city?"I ask perplexed.
"I have a cloak over it so the bright light doesn't disturb my castle or any other homes nearby. Just out of the generosity of my heart of course." I laugh and he frowns which makes me crack up even more.
"Now can you tell me where we're going?" I ask hoping he'll use that big heart if his to spill the beans.
"Nope."
"What do I have to do to get you to tell me!?" I huff crossing my arms.
"Think creatively or wait patiently." He shrugs, but I surely can't miss the smirk on face.
"I'll...I'll.."I stutter.
A kiss. I hear Hades voice echo in my mind. I turn towards him and his shaggy black hair hangs enough that I almost miss the slight pink in his cheeks. I turn back to the road to see if it's empty and decide that if we crash it'll be worth it. I pull my seatbelt from over my shoulder and lean towards him. He glances in my direction but doesn't turn.
"Hhhaaadddeeessss..." I say. My breath fans his cheek and I see him shiver.
"I could crash Annika." He warns. "I was kidding."
"Come on Hades. Let me have a taste of death." I whisper and with that he slams his lips into mine. Luckily for us we stopped when we noticed the car going left.
"You really are something." He says slightly out of breath as I am.
"It's a good think." I say looking out the window.
"And why is that little mouse?"
"Because when you run out of mystery, it'll be my turn to bring the excitement to the relationship." I don't turn toward him but I can feel his smile.
"We're here." He says and I turn towards him pouting.
"That kiss was for you to tell me where we were going!" I huff. "I've been tricked." Hades rolls his eyes and hops out of the car and comes around to open my door. Once it's open the breeze from the outside hits me, but before I can step out it intensifies to an extreme amount and before I know it the world goes white.
"What the hell!" I scream. "HADES!" I yell hoping he can hear me, but it's to no avail. The image around me soon changes to the castle. Hades and I are sitting at the dining table and suddenly a woman walks through the large double doors. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She look about my age except even more stunning. Her slim nose complements her large doe eyes, and the red body con dress she wears makes every body part look voluptuous. She wears tall ruby red stilettos that make her smooth, long legs look even longer. I notice Hades freeze and pale and it makes me panic.
"Did you miss me Hades?" She said and suddenly the image was ripped from my mind and I was back in the car.
"ANNIKA!" Hades yells shaking me.
"Hades, I'm fine. I think." I say dumbfounded.
"What happened? Your eyes went grey. Even the white part."
"I saw something. I-we were in the castle, but I wasn't me. I was watching us. We were eating food and just sitting there talking. Out of no where this GORGEOUS girl comes through the door in a tight red dress and ruby red stilettos shoes. She had thick brown hair and blue eyes. She asked if you missed her." Hades tenses like he did in my...vision.
"We have to get out of here Annika." He says. He pushes my limbs back in the car and slams the door shut without another word scurries to the other side of the car.
"What is it?" I ask. He whips the car around to the way we came and I notice his knuckles start to get white. He glances in my direction and I notice his eyes are slightly beginning to glow red.
"Well little mouse, you've gained a new ability, and it's to see the future." He says as he goes 100 down the road. We get to the busy road and he expertly avoids cars and people with ease.
"Who did I see?" I ask hoping he'll at least open up about this. I mean it was MY vision after all.
"That my darling was Persephone."
Panic. Panic. Panic. Panic. Panic.
Persephone's back, but I'll be damned if I let this bitch ruin what I have going on. I may not be as powerful literally but momma raised a strong, powerful woman who can carry her own. I'll do what I have to do to let her know her place....that she has no place.
