Ash sniffed his nose and shoved his hands in his pockets while Eiji laughed next to him. Damm's night was so cold. It isn't like Ash wanted to ride for three hours and then walk 10 minutes later on the snowing street at the 19:23, but he had little choice when his 'pops' Max decided to send him an emergency text commanding him to be at his house by 20:00 or, and Ash quotes, he will regret not coming sooner. Ash scowled as he remembered the text, what's with the man being so shady and mysterious. Ten minutes later, they were at the location Max send them. It was a big white house with a green garden around it. Something that was rarely seen in New York, but here, in this farmland they were in, this was fairly common. The fence was black and Ash pushed it open with ease as they stepped inside. They didn't even ring the bell or knock as the doors immediately slammed open and Jessica greeted them, and by greeting them i meant to say, pulled them inside slamming the door in process and let them to a brightly lighted room. It only had essential furniture, two chairs, and a comfy-looking sofa with a small knee-height brown table in front of it. Max sat on the chair with a look of curiosity and impending-doom while Michael sat next to the sofa, only his back ant the back of his head was visible. On the sofa sat a young man. He looked 20 the most with his dark-brown hair coming slightly over his shoulders and Blue-Gray eyes stared at him. "Ash, Eiji. We have something important to tell you." Jessica gestured for them to sit down, and Ash hesitatingly complied. 'Something is off'
"Jace, this is Ash" Jace nodded as Max gestured towards Ash. "Nice to meet you, Ash. I heard a lot about you" Ash only nodded with narrowed eyes as he glanced at Max 'Start explaining old man' Max obviously got the point as he gulped down hard. His eyes darting from Jace to Ash and Eiji, before it fell on Michael. No, not Micahel. Someone in front of him. "Boys" Jace called and in a few moments, two short figures ran from around the sofa. Two little boys, one with dirty blond hair while the boy next to him had platinum hair much similar to Ash's own. Green and Brown pairs stared at him for a few moments before shuffling and seating next Jace who gladly wrapped his hands around them and pulled them a little closer so they were leaning on his shoulders. "Ash..." Max called with an uncertain smile and when he met his green eyes continued "I would like you to meet. Griffith and Asher... Your two nephews" his face bleached and twisted into pure confusion while Eiji was staring at Max with mouth wide open. "Huh...HUH!?" Max twitched and took a step back, his arms raised in front of him trying to calm the blond boy now standing up on his feet. "Ash, they are Griffin's sons" Ash glanced at the two little boys, Jace and then back at Max. "Griffin... he... has sons?" Mx could only nod as Ash popped himself back on the sofa again. "Here," Max rose his hand, showing the once-upon-the-time white letter, now yellowish with few stains here and there, ink transmuted with drops of tears and Ash took the letter from Max's hands with shaky grasp. It was Griffin's letter to him. It told him how he found a person he loves, how she is the reporter serving as a nurse in their camp. How he loves her more than anything and wants to start a family with her, and how he can't wait for two of them to meet. Ash felt tears prickling in his eyes. He clenched the letter tighter as a single tear rolled down his cheek. He expected to feel only a small stream sliding down, but he felt something brushing it instead. When he opened the eyes he didn't know he closed, he saw a little boy with dirty blond hair in front of him, his big brown eyes staring at him with kindness. Griffith. The boy sent him a smile before shuffling back at his former seat. "Where is..." Max shook his head "Michael, go show the boys your room, alright sweetie" Michael nodded and gestured for the twins to follow him, which they did after they both gave Jace pack on the cheek "She died a couple of months ago" Jace answered once the twins were out of ear-shot.
"I see..." Eiji touched his shoulder gently and Ash smiled slightly "Asher and Griffith are both very smart boys, they are very precious to me and i already finalized the papers so I can adapt them properly, but I do not want them to grow apart from you. You're their only living relative left" Jace got up and walked towards Ash handing him a little black paper. "You have my name and address written there. If you wish to come over just give me a call" he walked to doors and while rearranging his coat turned to give him a side-glance "I hope neither of us ends up regretting our decision" and after a short call to the two boys, they left, leaving Ash to stare at the floor with thoughtful look.
"I see..." Eiji touched his shoulder gently and Ash shuddred slightly in response, willing his heart to slow down. "How did you find me?" he asked. Jace watched him silently, as if unsure how to proceed. he sighted. "I went to the adress written on the letter, i found your house and invastigated you a bit. That man who dosen't deserve being called their grandfather made it clear he didn't want anything to do with the boys and mentioned your recent trip there. I managed to identify Max Lobo with his description and then i tracked down his family and they agreed to help me meet you after Mr. Lobo confirmed our identity. No need to be alarmed, i got the info from my parents who work in the govermant. Your secrets won't be leaked."
