"Do you really think you can win?"

Iida scrambles away from me, his eyes huge.

"Don't worry; I want to have some fun, so I'll give you a little bit of a chance."

OMNISCIENT POV

Takusan's eyes return to their normal black. He stands, waiting for Iida to make a move. Iida hesitates, not sure what to do.

"Well, come on! We don't have all day." Iida takes a deep breath, running his strategy through in his head. All he has to do is get Kyarakuta out of the arena. If he can just run up to Kyarakuta and push him out of bounds it'll be over. Iida prepares his engines and narrows his eyes. This will be over in an instant if he can catch Takusan off guard. He bursts forward, flames shooting out of his engines.

"Phaser." Takusan's eyes turn an almost translucent blue, and Iida runs straight through him, almost tumbling right out of bounds.

"What? How?"

"I'm getting tired of people asking that. It's my quirk. You know that." Iida looks completely defeated. He's clearly thinking up a new plan, but he doesn't know how to fight if he can't even touch his opponent. "Why the long face? Look, I won't use that trick again. That'll give you a chance, right?" Takusan's eyes go back to black, and at that exact moment, Iida charges again.

"Warp." A portal appears in front of Takusan, and Iida runs straight into it. He reappears on the other side of the arena, panting. The crowd slowly encourages Iida, telling him not to give up. Takusan chuckles.

"Yeah, Iida. Come on, you can do it! Just come hit me!" He mocks, angering Iida into charging again. Takusan uses Speedy to easily evade Iida's kicks and punches.

"Is that all you've got? I'm getting bored." Iida screams in anger, punching faster but blindly. Takusan yawns, still dodging all of his attacks. "Maybe this'll be more interesting if I fight back." Takusan speeds away from Iida, creating a circle of lightning around the opponent. After a few seconds he slows, throwing lightning in Iida's general direction. He clearly wasn't trying to hit Iida, but that doesn't change the lethality the attack holds.

"WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? DON'T TELL ME HE CAN THROW LIGHTNING TOO!"

"No throwing lightning! You could kill him!" Midnight yells at Takusan, who sighs.

"I just wanted to have some fun. Fine, no more lightning." Iida crouches down, his hands on his knees, breathing heavily.

"Are you getting tired, Iida?" Iida stands up straight, narrowing his eyes angrily.

"Is this a joke to you? This battle can determine our future, and you're acting like it's nothing more than a mere game."

"What else would it be?"

"Are you serious?"

"Quite. Besides, aren't you glad I've given you a chance? If I used my power to fight back this battle would've been over ages ago."

"I wouldn't count on that."

"Oh, so you want me to actually try?"

"YES!" Takusan smirks, chuckling slightly.

"You asked for it." Iida charges again, anger radiating off of him. "Petrify." Takusan's eyes turn red as the new quirk takes over. He stares at Iida, cocking his head slightly. "You want me to fight back? Fine." Iida stops in his tracks, his eyes widening.

"What... what are you doing?"

"I'm showing you your greatest fear." Iida falls backward, scrambling to get away. "It's impossible to fight through, by the way. I wouldn't waste my strength trying if I were you." Iida grabs his head, rocking back and forth on the ground as he tries to escape his nightmare. He whimpers, holding his knees up to his chest. "Terrifying, isn't it?"

Takusan's eyes return to black and he lets go of his hold on Iida. Iida continues rocking, his eyes wide with insanity. "It's not personal, but I would like to win." Iida looks up at Takusan, unable to move. "Paralyze." Takusan's eyes turn light gray, and he reaches down and touches Iida's shoulder.

Iida freezes, falling to his side. The crowd sits in silence, waiting for him to move.

"He's immobilized," Takusan tells Midnight, who waves him off.

"I'll determine that. Iida? Can you move?" Iida does not answer.

"He's can't move his mouth to tell you. Trust me, he's out." Midnight hesitates but agrees.

"Takusan Kyarakuta is the winner!" The crowd doesn't cheer like usual. They just sit silently in astonishment and fear. Takusan walks over to Iida, tapping him again to cancel out the quirk. Takusan then helps Iida to his fight, allowing him to lean on him.

"I'm sorry it went down like that."

"Take him to Recovery Girl." Takusan nods, leaving the arena with Iida at his side.

TAKUSAN'S POV

"What did you do to the poor boy?"

"I didn't hurt him physically if that makes it better." Iida is sitting in his bed, muttering incomprehensible things to himself. Recovery Girl sighs, going back over to him.

"Sleep, my dear."

"I didn't know it would affect him this much. I haven't used that power on someone for that long before. I really am sorry."

"I know, dear." She gently makes Iida lay down, covering him in the bedsheets. "He should be fine once he gets some sleep. Though he'll be having nightmares for a long time." I look down at my feet, feeling ashamed.

"I shouldn't have done this."

"You did what you had to do to win, don't feel too bad." I sigh, sitting down beside Iida, who was still muttering.

"Drowsy." I never thought I'd actually use this quirk, but it will help Iida get some sleep. I gently close his eyes, humming quietly. Iida slowly drifts into a deep sleep, one that won't be interrupted by any nightmares. I sit beside Iida, humming to keep the quirk activated.

"What did you do to him?" I hear Uraraka's voice, filled with anger, as she awakens from her own injuries. I put my finger to my mouth, signaling her to quiet down. I hum for a moment longer to ensure that he's asleep. "Well?" I look up at her and sigh.

"I went too far. I know." Uraraka's face softens when she realizes that I really am sorry. "I need to get to my next match." I stand up, walking to the arena.
