Chapter 5

With in seconds I had the front door slammed open and I was racing up the stairs as fast as I could. Elena's door was open and she was crying in Cassy's arms. I took her from Cassy and cradled her trying to calm my sobbing daughter. I didn't know what was wrong and it scared me.

"What happened?!?!" I screamed as a worried Cassy.

"I-I dont know. I was in my room when I heard her screaming. When I came in sh-she w-was sitting up in her crib sobbing." Cassy stuttered.

"Shhhh. Shhh. Shhhh. Elenasweety calm down please calm down. Look mommy's here. I didn't leave sweety. Shhhh. Shhh." I tried to soothe as I rocked her in my arms."Mommy's right here, I wouldn't leave you sweety. Never." She seemed to calm down a bit, but I still kept rocking her. "Yeah there you go. Mommy's here sweety.I'm. Right. Here." She stopped crying and smiled at me before resting her head in the crook of my neck and I continued to rock her back and forth.

"Brooks.."Cassy started, but then I heard his voice.

"Did you just say 'mommy's here'?"

I whipped around so fast and stared wide-eyed at Tyler. I hadn't noticed he'd followed me. Tyler's eyes shifted between me and Elena. My daughter's head popped up when she heard him speak. She looked around the room spotting Tyler, then she clapped happily. Her arms reaching toward Tyler leaning closer to him. I was totaly shocked. She never did this to anyone but me. I bet if my eyes could pop out of their sockets then they would.

"Well I'll be damned. She knows who her dear old daddy is." Cassy stated shocked, and because I was so shocked I let her saying that cuss word slidethis time.

Tyler looked at Cassy as if he was trying to detect a lie, but there was no lie. It was the truth, he was her father weather he liked it or not. When he saw no lie his face turned harsh towards her and she took that as he cue to leave,closing the door behind her. I watched her go refusing to look at Tyler.

"Brooklynn." He spoke quietly as if testing his voice. Uh-oh...

"Brooklynn look at my face!" So I did so with tears in my eyes. Elena was still trying to get to him. "I had a daughter?"

"Technically I'm the one who had her." I said just as softly, trying to lighten the mood.

"Brooklynn you know what I meant." I nodded, but stayed quiet. "ANSWER ME!!!" He yelled.

I instinctively turned Elena from him and she whimpered as I whispered "Yes." Tyler's gaze softened as he looked fully at Elena. I turned back to where he could fully see her then sat down in the floor. Tyler followed and sat down to. His eyes never onece left Elena. I was thinking...

"Now that you...know the secret I've been keeping from you. I...well I just think I should tell you everything." Elena reached for Tyler again. "You promise to not hurt her?"

"Why would I hurt her?" He asked, shocked that I would say that.

"Cause she wants you to hold her and I think its a good idea. You promise?"

"Of course I promise." And so I passed Elena to him.

"And...uh I don't think you're gonna like what I have to say next."

"What are you talking about?" He asked as Elena traced the skull pattern on his shirt. It's like they click right away. I smile just thinking about that. When I didn't answer he looked up and my smile vanished as I thought of Micheal.

"Welll uhh yeah Elena's your child."

"Your's too." He commented.

I nodded. "You had a son also."

"What really? I get to wonderful kids? That's just....wait where is he?"

Tearssprung to my eyes. "Micheal's dead." My heart squeeze tightly and I grasped my shirt above my top.

"Brooky." He whispered as he placed his handon top of mine, trying to gently pry my hand from my shirt. "Im soo soo soo sorry. If I'd known why you were so upse....I couldn't under...well I do sorta understand your pain, but I just...I never would have pushed you if I'd known." He looked down. "His name was Micheal?"

"Yes Micheal Lewis Price." I smiled brifely as I felt his hand gently squeeze mine.

"And this is Elena?"

"Mhhm.Elena Kennedy Price."

"Beautiful, both names and I guess I can understand why their last name is the same as your. And Im sooo sorry for ever....well not everything cause now I have a beautiful daughter. Who looks just like her mother." I blushed a little and smiled up at him.

"She has your eyes you know?"

"Really?" He asked letting go of my hand and gently lifting her face to look at him. "She does. Well I'll be d....surprised."

"Nice cover-up."

"Thank you."

I sighed. "It's gonna be a while before I get her to go back to sleep."

"Sorry."

"Don't be Tyler. You're her dad, and I see now that it was wrong of me to keep her a secret from you.."

"Why did you keep it a secret?" He asked as he tickled his daughter making her giggle.

"Cause I was scared. I was afraid when I found out I was pregnant and I ran. And I thought that if I told you then you'd run away saying that you hated me and my daughter, that you'd want nothing to do with us. I didn't want to risk it." By the end I was crying. Tyler pulled me to his chest while I cried, and rubbed soothing circles on my back. Elena had even rested her head on my shoulder in a type of comfort. I stayed like that for about 2 minutes before pulling away and wiping my eyes. Elena then crawled onto my lap and I smiled down at her.

"You know me better than that."

"Yes Tyler I do, but I was scared. I'm only sixteen you know."

"Right and happy birthday."

"Thanks Ty." I said with a true smile while hugging my daughter to me.

"Ummm Brooky I'm not exactly sure how to ask this, but what does Micheal look like?" I sighed taking out my phone and sending him a picture of the twins. When Tyler got it he smile and then pulled me and Elena into a big hug.
