"King T'Challa." Steve says in a surprised tone while we both carry Bucky back to the conveyance we came in. "What are you doing here?" The king motions his hand to a tied up Zemo inside the quinjet which the Wakandan arrived in.
"Do we know what's gonna happen to him?" I ask.
"I'll make sure he's delivered to the authorities." T'Challa responds before looking at me directly in the eyes. His gaze is sincere and rueful. "I owe you all an apology."
Although I'd love to hear him ask for forgiveness, I don't need it anymore. He's already proven his remorse by helping me arrest Helmut. Besides, his speech has been much more obliging for me than any therapy ever could. "Your highness, I-"
"Please, I insist." He cuts me off. I'm just awkward at this point. Why is he so persistent if he's just going to say sorry? "Your friend and my father... they were both victims. Let me help one of them find peace."
I have no idea of what he means for what I look at him confused. "How?"
"You can take shelter in Wakanda." My eyes widen at his offer. He could jeopardize his security and reputation by hiding two war criminals in the country he rules. "I believe my sister can do something with your condition."
"What are you saying?" I frown, even more puzzled than before.
"Technology in Wakanda is more advanced than most people are aware." He explains. "We might be able to undo your brainwashing."
"That-" I choke with my own words. If he can do that, I'd be forever grateful to him. "That would be amazing, your majesty."
"Please, call me T'Challa."
"You know, if they find out you're hiding them there they'll come for you." Steve points out. T'Challa, on the other hand, doesn't look worried about that.
"Let them try."
We all get in the quinjet. Bucky is having trouble staying awake, so I fasten him to a retractable gurney implanted in the wall of the shuttlecraft to let him rest. I'll clean his wound up as soon as we takes off. T'Challa takes Zemo to the back of the craft, so I don't have to see him during the length of the journey.
"What now?" I ask Steve as I take the co-pilot seat next to him.
"T'Challa takes Zemo to the UN and we go to the shaft to get the others out." I nod, without any verbal response. He knows something is off. "Are you okay? It's a piece of pretty heavy information what you learned there..."
