Place: The Edge

Summary: When Astrid is covered in soot in the episode Blindsided, someone has to clean her up, right? In my world, that was Hiccup. Warning: Fluff!

###

Hiccup was lying next to Astrid, both of them asleep. Astrid had curled into Hiccup's chest, and they fit together like a glove. His arms were wrapped around her waist, and hers around his. Then, a sudden clap of thunder erupted and echoed around the edge, jolting the two awake immediately.

Hiccup blushed, realising he just slept with his crush. Astrid also blushed, sensing his close presence and his addictive smell. Hiccup cleared his throat, trying to also clear the awkwardness.

"We uh... Should probably get you cleaned up..." He stammered, standing up and brushing himself off.

"Can you help me?" Astrid basically whimpered, trying to sit up, but only to lose her balance.

"Of course," Hiccup replied, a heartwarming smile on his face as he lifted Astrid up with her fore-arms. Astrid could see his kind smile with her mind's eye, and it made her smile herself.

Hiccup lead her to his hut, an arm around her waist as they crossed the thin wooden gangplanks. They went upstairs, and Hiccup helped her sit on his bed.

"Stay here. I'm going to get some water." Hiccup explained, and soon enough, he came back with some lukewarm water.

"Is it cold?" Astrid asked, uncertain. Hiccup dipped a finger in the water.

"Nope, room temperature." He said, dipping a cloth in the bucket. "Okay..." He mumbled to himself as he started to wipe away the Ash under her chin.

"Did the lightning hit you anywhere?" He asked.

"No... YEEEP!" Astrid replied, but yelped when another crash of thunder rumbled its way into everyone's ears.  She started whimpering, and Hiccup put down the cloth to help her calm down.

"Shhh, shh. It's okay Astrid, just a little thunder. Nothing to be afraid of." He whispered in her ear, an arm snaking around her shoulders, while his other hand gently patted her leg, which was effectively calming her down.

"Sorry, Hiccup. I just feel so weak like this... What if this is it? What if I stay like this forever?" She rambled, and her best friend couldn't stand to see her like that. Hiccup had started to wipe her face clean again.

"Astrid, enough. You're not weak, you never will be. Like I said earlier; when there's a break in the storm we'll go get Gothi and she will heal you. Then you'll be able to see again." He reassured, and she whimpered, nodding.

But then, a tear fell from her eye, leaving a trail of clean and wet skin in its path. Hiccup had previously dipped his hands in the water, and when he saw this tear, he wiped it away with his thumb, gently, and also wiping away ash at the same time.

"What's wrong, Ast?" Hiccup asked softly and sweetly.

"I-I just h-hate being v-vunerab-ble. And I hate being seen cr-crying." She explained.

"Oh, Astrid." Hiccup emphasized, gathering Astrid in his arms and placing her on his lap. She instinctively leaned onto him, encircling his neck with her arms. He gently pushed Astrid's head onto his chest, and he ran his fingers through her hair, soothing her.

"Everything's going to be alright Astrid. Just stop worrying, okay? I have everything under control." He whispered, and then, he gathered up all his courage and he did what he never thought he could do. He started placing small kisses in her hair, and she didn't kill him as he thought. Instead, she hummed in appreciation.

"And Astrid?" Hiccup asked.

"You're going to have to get changed as well... So..." He trailed off, and they both blushed. "Do you think you can do it by yourself, or do you want me to get Ruff?" He eventually asked, and Astrid shook her head.

"No... Can you help me, Hiccup, but don't... well, you know... peeve?" She whispered, turning her head to where she thought Hiccup's head was, and she made a good guess. He nodded, but then realised she couldn't see.

"Sure," He replied, standing up, and taking Astrid with him. "But are you certain? Am I... Are you wearing anything underneath?" He rambled, sliding down Astrid's leather skirt. When he stood back up at his tall height, Astrid placed her hands on his shoulders.

"Hiccup, I trust you. You won't see anything you won't need to, I'm wearing clothes underneath. Just try and get it over with." She reassured. He nodded, starting to fiddle with her shoulder guards. He eventually got them of,  both of them blushing furiously. His arms eventually made their way to her hips, where the hem of her shirt was, without breaking contact.

"Are you sure about this?" He asked, leaning closer to whisper in her ear. She blushed further, his breath on her neck making her shiver as she placed her hands over his and gave them a quick squeeze.

"Certain," she assured, again. He sighed before lifting her shirt up in one quick motion, quicker than Astrid herself could do on her best day. He felt himself get somewhat excited at the sight of her bare skin, but he did his best to calm himself down. Hiccup slid his thumbs along down side her sides, getting a little distracted, but staying on task. He hooked his fingers in the lace of her pants, taking deep breaths.

"Hiccup? Are you alright? It's sounds like your hyperventilating." Astrid asked, actually concerned.

"Well... I, uhm... I'm just not used to this..." He mumbled. He closed his eyes as he pulled down her pants, in order to not start hyperventilating. He pulled a tunic out from a nearby chest.

"Are you okay with wearing one of my old tunics? Or do you want me to get one of yours?" he asked.

"I'll just wear yours. Quicker and easier." She answered. He nodded, pulling out his old green long-sleeved tunic.

"Arms," He said, and Astrid raised her arms over her head so he could slip on the shirt.

It slid on easily, and it went down to her knees. At this point, Astrid may aswell forget about pants. But, he followed her wishes and helped her slide on pants. He brushed his hands on his tunic, dusting off. He was trying to regroup, he couldn't let his emotions get in the way of Astrid getting help.

"Thanks, Hiccup." Astrid sighed, smiling.

"Anything for you, milady." He responded, placing a hand on her shoulder.

A/n: Oof. Just oof. This got a bit... dirty... so I had to turn it around, and thats what I did. Hope it wasn't too bad.
