Hiccup woke to someone banging on his door.
"Hiccup? You in there?" An angelic voice soon followed.
He didn't reply. He didn't know why, but he just couldn't bring himself to speak up. He managed out a small groan, not of annoyance or pain or pleasure but depression.
"Hiccup are you in there?" another voice called. It must've been Fishlegs, Hiccup would recognise the boys squeaky voice anywhere. He didn't respond, he only rolled over in his bed, back facing the door.
Seeing here was something wrong with his rider, Toothless crooned. He didn't receive a responce either, so he opened the door to find the whole gang standing out there.
"Hey T. Where's H?" Tuff asked the night fury.
"He's on breakfast duty. Cuz... Heh! Man, can that scrawny one-legged guy cook!" Ruff continued, laughing, but she earned am elbow in the ribs.
"Hiccup isn't scrawny, furthest thing from it." Astrid huffed, walking up to Hiccup.
"Babe? What's wrong?" she asked.
"Everything. Everything's wrong," he eventually grumbled, and the gang shared confused and worried glances with one another.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, everything is wrong. Johann turned out to be evil. Viggo turned out to be good, sacrificing himself for me... It wasn't worth it." he mumbled the last part, and Astrid gasped. She rolled him over to see a sad face, a few tears running down his cheeks.
"Oh... baby..." Astrid sympathized.
"A-And Ruff's right, you know. I-I am nothing but scrawny."
"Take that back, Hiccup. You aren't scrawny." Astrid commanded, but Hiccup only averted her gaze.
"Yes I am..." He tried to roll back over but Astrid stopped him.
"Baby... Why are you like this?"
"I don't know... I guess I was just born like this... A weak runt to be bullied and only be accepted once they save the tribe and kill a dragon..." He grumbled, and at the words kill a dragon Toothless warbled, suddenly alot more scared than he thought he was.
"No, that's not what I meant, Hiccup. And you know that. Why are you in such a mood?" Astrid asked again, yet Hiccup had no answer.
"I don't know. A malfunction of my brain," Hiccup scoffed, rolling over so he wasn't facing anyone.
"I think that's impossible, Hiccup. You're too smart for that," Snotlout said, surprising everyone.
"Smart enough to be fooled so easily. Just like the first time I lost to Viggo," Hiccup groaned, wishing everyone would just leave him alone.
"It wasn't you who lost to Viggo, Hiccup. It was all of us. As a team." Astrid reassured, although it did little.
"I'm not in the mood for one of your pep talks, Astrid." The heir to Berk snarled, harsher than he meant to. He didn't want to hurt his lady. Astrid was taken back, however, and she had to admit it hurt.
"I just... don't feel like talking to anyone right now," he whispered, voice cracking. The gang shared a look, and they all left, leaving Astrid alone with Toothless and Hiccup.
The girl snuggled up to her boyfriend, not saying a word. Hiccup's breath hitched in his throat before he wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her golden hair, which he carefully tugged from its braid.
Less than a minute after, Hiccup's shoulders started shaking, and little hiccups escaped his lips, and Astrid felt her hair getting the tiniest bit wet. Then she realised her boyfriend was crying, and her level of concern cascaded to its limit.
"Baby... What's wrong?" she asked him, whispering, not wanting to scare him out of talking.
"I-I don't know. I'm s-sorry for scolding y-you, Astrid." he sobbed into her shoulder, and she started to stroke his hair.
"It's alright, Hiccup. Whatever your going through, I can help you. You understand that, don't you?"
The boy nodded into her shoulder, tightening his grip on Astrid while she wrapped her arms around his back.
"I love you," She told him.
"I love you too,"

I need someone to love in my life. No I don't. That's stupid. It's not stupid. It is stupid, im too young. Am I scolding myself? Guess I am. Lovely. I have dreams. They're good enough.
