CHAPTER THREE; STEFAN'S BACK

TWENTY MINUTES passed and Jack, Elena, and Klaus were still in the gym. Only Elena was comforting Dana and her friend, Jack was sitting at the top of the bleachers with his hands out on his knees and Klaus sat at the bleachers below, closer to the door. The door opened and in walked Stefan, the vampire Jack had only known for less than a month.

"Stefan" Elena whispered, standing up from Dana's side.

Jack glanced up, then back down quickly. His hands were shaking, trembling and he knew if he didn't leave this gym soon, it would be covered in snow and ice. He bounced his knee up and down slowly, hoping to calm himself down. The last time this happened it was in the school's library when some teenagers decided to bully Jack. As soon as they left the entire isle of books were covered in ice.

"Come to save your damsel, mate?" Klaus teased.

Stefan walked further to Klaus, "I came to ask for your forgiveness. And pledge my loyalty" he corrected.

Klaus arched a brow, "Well, you broke that pledge once already" he reminded, head on his hands. Elena stood up as the two men continued talking.

"Jack!" she called out, "Jack," she said again to the daydreaming boy who was to focused on his hands and trying not to create a blizzard. Now that he was older it was easier to control, but only Elena, Max, and Caroline knew about it. He didn't want the Original to have another reason to stay in Mystic Falls; him. "Jack!".

Said boy blinked and then faced Elena, "It's bad" he whispered, almost only mouthing it. She nodded, waving him to come by here. He got up and walked down the bleachers until he met the brunette and she pulled him under her arm, rubbing his back to calm him down.

"What are you waiting for? Kill them" Klaus said as soon as Jack finally connected back to reality, finally gaining his control back. This wasn't the Stefan the boy remembered, he seemed damaged, broken like he'd given up.

"No!" Elena screamed.

"Stefan, don't. He's not going to hurt Elena. He already said-" Jack begged before Klaus grabbed Elena and slapped her so hard she fell to the floor screaming, "-What-what the hell!" he yelled, rushing to Elena's side but being grabbed by Klaus.

"She means nothing to you? Your lies just keep piling up" Klaus yelled in a rage despite expecting this from the Salvatore.

"Let him go! I'll do whatever you want, you have my word!" Stefan promised, though the words meaning nothing by now. Stefan wasn't a big thinker, he acted on emotions, and he loved Elena and liked Jack although he never got to know him well.
