chapter forty-two
(the frost)DAMN IT felt good to call Elena out on her bullshit. When Jack had first met the doppelgänger he hadn't hated her, in fact, they had actually been friends. But he knew she wasn't their for him like Caroline or Bonnie were. She was friends with him simply because her friends were friends with him. And he knew that was the only reason, yet he had nobody else so he stayed.
The first time he had really noticed how much of a toxic person she was was back when he had been nearly eleven. He remembered Elena was having Caroline and Bonnie over for a girls night and since Liz wasn't home Jack was forced to tag alone with them. It wasn't like he had wanted to go, he was just to young to be allowed home alone.
The entire night was filled with snarky comments about how Jack was a boy and wasn't supposed to be with them. Of course, Jack hadn't cared much back then but growing up it had always been like that. Except eventually Matt, Tyler and the rest of the group were allowed to go but Jack was their younger friend, he was to lame to hangout with them as Elena had told Bonnie.
But that was besides the point. The point being, if Elena would have been nicer to Jack then maybe they wouldn't have been in a situation quite like this one right now. Maybe Jack wouldn't be so mean to her and god knows maybe they would've actually got along.
They were at Rebekah's new house, it felt so weird to Jack that all the Mikaelson's weren't living under the same roof anymore. She was throwing a ditch party right now in honour of everyone's Senior year coming to an end in less then four months.
Jaime was sick, and Jack had wanted to be with him to help him get better but Jaime only told him he wanted nobody to see him like this.
So here Jack was, walking around Rebekah's house looking around in awe. It was a nice house, not as big as Klaus's but it had better features. It was average sized, the backyard was huge, there was sun light coming in through every room. It was the perfect house for Rebekah.
"Jack, you made it" Rebekah said smiling as she walked over to her younger brother. They hadn't seen each other for a couple of days, ever since Klaus had broken her neck and left her behind, leaving Mystic Falls with Jack only to come back after finding out Tyler was attacked by a hunter.
Jack pulled her into a hug, he could tell she looked tired. She looked fed up with the town and everyone in it. "I like your place, it's much more warming then Klaus's" he said smiling.
There were tons of teenagers piled into the house, every one of them drinking or smoking. Jack held a sprite in his hands, he was trying to drink less, everytime he drank something bad happened and he figured it would be better to deal with problems sober rather then drunk.
"Thank you" Rebekah replied, "I have a room for you upstairs if you ever want to stay the night" she offered placing a hand on his shoulder.
