ONLY ONCE Jack made it to a forest did he begin to wonder why Klaus really brought him out here. "You're here to kill me, aren't you?" he asked nervously.

Klaus laughed dryly, "If I was going to kill you I wouldn't need to take you somewhere else to do it" he admitted, leading Jack through twists and turns.

That makes me feel so much better Jack thought to himself.

Suddenly Klaus stopped and abruptly Jack slammed into him. "Whoops, s-sorry" he stuttered. Klaus didn't reply and then sat on a log, a cocky smirk on his face. "And we stopped here for. . ." he trailed off waiting for an explanation. Nothing but dead silence followed afterward. "Klaus, come on buddy. Tell me why we're in the forest. . . alone" he added, feeling tiny as Klaus sent him a glare once he said 'buddy'.

Klaus sighed. "You seemed angry, this is where I come when I'm angry. So. . .go at it" he laughed.

Jack furrowed his eyebrows and crossed his arms. "Okay maybe I'm a bit slow today, what am I supposed to be doing?" he asked more confidently. He'd much rather be at home taking a long-needed nap.

Klaus huffed in expiration. "Okay, when I was first changed, shifting from human to hybrid I had all this hidden bottled up anger and nowhere to let it out. The forest was what helped me" he eyed the trees around them almost thinking Jack would understand his vague explanation. "I'd punch the trees" he finally grumbled out.

Jack dropped his arms looking around. "You want me to punch trees to help me let my anger out?" he questioned.

"Or if you'd rather punch me that would work too. What I'm trying to say is keeping all that anger inside doesn't help you in the future. You think it makes you stronger but it's controlling the anger that does. Come on you have. . .icicle magic why not use it here and make your life easier? or at the very least test out how much magic you have, see what you're capable of" Klaus said.

If Jack hadn't known he was the big bad hybrid he'd maybe actually like him. He seemed genuine, for the most part aside from the murdering rampages. It made him mad at himself he hadn't thought of this. It was so clear, nobody hung out in the forest when there weren't parties and so this was the perfect time to see how much power he actually had.

"So I just. . .go for it? freeze the tree or something and I'll feel better?" He asked. It seemed to simple to be true.

Klaus shrugged, pointing at the pair of trees a couple of feet in front of them. Jack sighed and turned around to face said trees. He rubbed his hands together and practically threw his arms at the tree, hoping for something to happen, anything.

Nothing happened, no ice, snow, nothing.

"Come on, that's it? fix your 'mojo' and try again. Think harder, feel the power going through you and don't think about anything else. What will happen after, who might see, forget it all" Klaus coached.

Jack nodded, shaking his arms and trying to block everything out of his head. The fact he was with Klaus, his family hating him, his powers getting out of control, and believe it or not him failing junior year.

He took a breath of air, squinted his eyes and focused hard on the tree in front of him. And again nothing happened.

"I can't, I can't, I cannot do this I give up I give up!" he yelled, turning around. "The only moment in my entire existence I actually need these powers they don't work, nothing happens, nada. I'm sick of this. It's like they control me I mean how is this possible? why?" Jack begged for the answer.

He thought Klaus would be mad, mad he was wasting his time all for nothing. But instead, he looked sorry for him.

"And stop looking at me with the pity come on! you're supposed to be the big bad wolf the enemy, I'm supposed to hate you, I'm not supposed to be able to stand beingaround you! so why, why are you making me stay with you and why aren't you being evil!" Jack shouted stomping toward Klaus. Adrenaline filled him and he didn't even care what would happen next. He almost gave up.

Finally, when Jack was standing in front of Klaus who smiled calmly and amused he pointed at him. "Be mean, be evil, be-be scary. Hit me or bite me or drain me of my blood because maybe, just maybe, I'll actually be able to do something!" he screamed.

Klaus stood up, calmly and making Jack feel suddenly so small. The hybrid put his arms on Jack's shoulders and turned him around. Jack waited for it, for the beating, or to be drained of his blood but nothing happened.

What did happen, however, was the entire forest was frozen in ice as far as Jack could see. The snow was on the ground and the trees were brittle like they might snap any minute.

Jack huffed, turned back to look at Klaus and any anger in him flew away, he smiled. "I did it!" he yelled. "I-I actually did it, it happened!" he exclaimed in excitement. "I didn't think I could do it and it happened! what's the irony in that?" he asked rhetorically.

Klaus looked like he almost wanted to smile, but he refrained from doing so. "You let everything go and you controlled your anger. You did this. I believe what you're trying to say is 'klaus was right and I need to listen to him more'" he gloated.

Jack rolled his eyes, "yes. . . you were right and Ineedtolistentoyoumore" he uttered out to quiet to hear.

Klaus cuffed his ear, leaning forward. "I'm sorry, what was that?" he questioned, needing to hear these words despite his supernatural hearing.

Jack huffed obnoxiously. "you were right. . . and I need to. . .listen to you more" he said truthfully.

Jack couldn't believe Klaus had actually helped him. And he actually felt better. He didn't feel tense he didn't feel anxiety running through him in disguise. He felt mostly. . .calm.

"And I like to think I'm quite evil" Klaus muttered as they began walking out of the forest.

Jack stopped on the spot. "Wait a moment, klausy. Am I starting to grow on you?" he asked. A bright smile growing on his face. "I am growing on you and you don't like it do you?".

Klaus thought for a moment. Trying to come up with a way to get out of this conversation, instead, he kept on walking. "If you don't hurry up I will leave you here in the middle of the forest. Don't think I won't kill you if I need to" he threatened. Thought right now Jack couldn't feel safer.
