FIFTEEN MINUTES later Jack and Klaus ended up in front of the MysticGrill. "You dragged me to the grill?" Jack questioned rhetorically, he stepped out from the passenger's door and met at the front of the car with a smirking Klaus.
Klaus smacked his back and then walked toward the door. "I brought you here to pay your friend Elena a visit. If anyone knows where Stefan is it would be that wrench" he said walking inside.
The grill was buzzing lively with people. There were people day drinking and people laughing with their friends. It was easy for Jack to spot Elena and Damon across the room, playing darts.
Jack bit his lips, it looked like they had no problem with him being in the arms of Klaus, of course, he knew Damon wouldn't want anything to do with him but it hurt seeing Elena not even give him a thought. "How long was I out for?" he asked Klaus, knowing it was now 2 pm which meant he had been 'missing' for over 15 hours and nobody had even looked for him. Before he could answer Jack shook his head, "Nevermind, I'll be over here while you threaten my family" he stated, grabbing a seat at one of the stools at the bar.
He could clearly tell Matt wasn't working today which relieved him from any uncomfortable conversations. Jack didn't know how he felt right now. Part of him was numb, telling him he should be freaking out after being at Klaus's house all night without any of his family noticing nor caring. But a part of him thought everything was over, he'd ruined everything and that they didn't need to care about him anymore. He was stuck.
"Just an iced water, please," he said to the worker politely, the man nodded and grabbed a cup, filling it with ice and then tap water and slamming it on the bar table. Jack grabbed it and took a long sip, looking at Klaus talking to Elena and Damon. Elena looked panicked, Damon looked like he was about to say something cocky. Without meaning to he was staring and the two of them looked over at Jack.
"Jack?" Elena questioned, stating the obvious.
Jack turned and looked the other way, holding his arm to cover his face for a moment while he sipped his water quietly. Though after realizing they weren't just going to ignore him he looked back at them and waved awkwardly. "Hey, guys . . ." he trailed off, slamming his water on the bar and walking toward them.
Damon groaned, stepping closer to Elena, "Uh don't tell me you're team Klaus now?" he guessed.
Both Jack and Elena furrowed their brows. "What? god no" he replied immediately. "Though since you left me behind after your little tantrum being on his 'team' doesn't sound so horrible" he quoted, confusing Elena even more. The words coming out of his mouth were lies, he barely trusted Klaus as it is, he was still confused why he hadn't been killed yet.
"Left you behind? what?" Elena repeated in pure confusion.
Klaus stood there looking amused, it seemed as though everything was going to his plan. "Damon left, Stefan left, and then suddenly I was having a slumber party with him!" he accused, watching the hybrids face contort from shock back to amusement.
Elena gulped and then reached out to grab Jack's hand. "Jack, you're flaring right now, in public" she warned. Flaring was what the group had came up with for when his magic was out of control, in this case there was snowflakes flying from his hands, one or two floating up to the air the rest dissolving on the floor with the heat.
Jack grabbed his hand back and rubbed it against his rib cage. He licked his lips awkwardly and embarrassed. "Maybe I wanted that to happen" he exclaimed, "just next time you all decide to abandon me give me a warning" he added huffing and walking back to the bar in a growing anger. It was bubbling through him, flowing in his veins. An anger he tried so hard not to let show through.
He touched the glass of water and it completely froze to ice. Jack flinched, going into his pocket and pulling out his gloves, looking around as to make sure nobody had seen. He couldn't believe this was happening right now, how was he letting it get so bad, letting it control him.
"No" he whispered to himself. "This isn't going to happen, not here, not now" he told himself. He touched the scars lining his neck from whatever past reason he couldn't remember, he pushed until he could feel a small pinch of pain and then huffed, trying to slow down his breathing. The only problem was he was to angry to control himself.
Angry at himself, angry at his friends, angry at Klaus for being the only person he could somewhat seem to trust right now and most certainly, angry at the world.
I can't be angry at the world the world owes me nothing Jack told himself. But he wanted someone responsible for how he felt, he wanted something to blame other then himself. But there was nobody else to blame but himself. He had these powers for years and he should know how to control them by now, he saved Klaus's life and he shouldn't have.
The room seemed to be getting hotter. Sweat pouring down his forehead despite his cold temperature. Jack needed to get out of here, he needed to leave, now.
"Let's go now, shall we" Klaus grabbed his shoulder, making him jump. "Come on, I know what'll make you feel better" he added.
Jack looked up at him, not sure how to feel about what the hybrid was saying. He knew he should be dead right now if Klaus really was evil, if he didn't truly care for anybody. Jack gulped, "but don't you-don't you have to go threaten them some more" he asked stuttering.
Klaus shook his head, "I think I've threatened them enough for now, don't you?" he question with a small smile.
So without thinking Jack stood up and followed Klaus back to his car, not caring to look back at Elena and Damon's confused faces.
