chapter nineteen
(the frost)☆★
THE NIGHT ended with Jack in his room, unbuttoning his white collared shirt and taking off his tie. The dinner ended after what felt like a week to Jack, which was really only an hour and a half. After the threats here and there, and the uncomfortable tension, the night wasn't really that bad. The only bad thing was Jack knew right now as he stood in his room alive and well, the girls who had served them all night were being fed on.
Jack had actually gotten to know one of the girls, Olivia. Though she didn't say much he found out she graduated from Mystic Falls High, she was twenty-two, and apparently, didn't know about the supernatural, which was ironic because nowadays it seemed everyone in Mystic Falls knew about the supernatural. He almost wanted to save her, but he knew when to pick his battles and when not to.
He had almost passed out in his bed right there, except for the clatters and yelling coming from downstairs. Jack figured it was just between the Salvatore's and the Mikaelson's, but when he heard Klaus scream he knew something was off.
So he huffed and forced himself up and out of bed, making himself walk down the stairs and through the hallway leading toward the noises. He held his hand out in case something was really wrong but that only scared him, the thought of there being something Klaus and Elijah can't fight.
The first thing Jack noticed once he made it into the dinning room was a vase being thrown in his direction. He dodged out of the way but still let his fear get in the way, freezing the vase mid-air. It stayed in the air for a couple of moments before falling to the ground, shattering into small pieces of ice.
"Jack, go back upstairs" Klaus ordered, everyone in the room staring at him. There was Elijah, the boy from the coffin earlier, Jack thought his name was Cole or something, another man, and Rebekah.
"What's going on?" Jack asked, not sure what to make of the situation.
"Oh so you kept the human as your own personal blood stash. I told you there was something about him and you didn't have the dignity to say I was right" Rebekah whined.
That was when Jack clued in that these were the originals, the three other coffins that Klaus wasn't ready to open yet. Right now Jack felt like a fish in a pool filled with sharks.
Klaus almost looked broken, it was odd and something that made Jack feel horrible for him. He'd never seen him this damaged, this vulnerable. "I wanted this place to be for all of us. A place we could all call home. A place we could all be a family. None of us would ever have to be alone again" Klaus explained.
"Well you're right, none of us will be" Elijah replied.
Finn, who had been asleep for over nine-hundred years had hair longer then Elena's. "You're staying behind" he said smug.
Rebekah was still in her dress from the homecoming months ago and said, "We're leaving you, Nik. Right after I kill that doppelgänger wench, then you will be alone. Always and forever"."If you run, I will hunt all of you down!" Klaus screamed, trying to threaten them despite what a shocking turn of events.
Jack tried not to be afraid as he walked over to Klaus's side. He knew what it felt like to be alone. It felt so bad, it felt like there was something wrong with you. Like you'd never belong and you shouldn't belong. It's this constant voice in your head telling you you're not good enough, telling you you're the cause to everything bad in your life.
Even if Klaus didn't want Jack to stay with him he didn't want to go anywhere else, and he wanted to make sure Klaus knew he wasn't alone. He felt bad the hybrid was ganged up on by his family. If Jack had siblings he sure as hell wouldn't be picking a fight with them, no matter what, family comes first."Then you'll become everything you hate. Our father" Elijah taunted, bringing Jack out of his thoughts.
He wanted to say something, anything, but he was speechless. He could only bare to watch.
"I'm the hybrid! I can't be killed! I have nothing to fear from any of you" Klaus roared, his eyes filling with tears and his voice echoing throughout the eerie house.
"You will when we have that coffin" Elijah assured.
The door opened, as if this night couldn't escalate anymore, the door opened and in came Esther. The originals mother, and unknowingly to Jack the truth she had told him was nothing but lies."Mother?" Rebekah questioned, as if she wasn't really here.
"Esther" Jack whispered to himself in confusion. How did any of this make sense? How was Esther his mother and Rebekah's? even though the answer was obvious and right in front of Jack he didn't want to believe it, he was in denial, and so he acted as if he didn't have a clue what was happening.
Esther walked toward the two boys, her eyes stuck on Jack's before trailing to Klaus. Klaus couldn't make eye contact. He couldn't believe she was alive after all the guilt he'd carried of killing her, after the centuries of guilt. He couldn't believe this was all happening.
"Look at me! Do you know why I'm here?" Esther yelled, making Jack jump back. He tried his very hardest to come to a sane conclusion, maybe she was a doppelgänger, maybe she had a twin or something. None of this added up. The mother he briefly knew died in a car accident, that's what she had said, she wouldn't have lied.
A tear fell down Klaus's face, "You're here to kill me" he whimpered out.
Esther wiped away Klaus's tear and smiled weakly. "Niklaus, you are my son and I am here to forgive you" she admitted, then looking to Jack, "I want us to be a family again. All of us. Even you, Henrik" she said softly.
I'm in a good mood so i posted twice today, hope you enjoyed this cliffhanger 😂😂
