"One more class done, and I don't have to take it again until January." Hope said happily as she packed away her potions textbook and she and Olivia stood from their seats, ready to head out of the classroom.
"Is it bad that I'm slightly happy about that too? Professor Snape isn't too pleasant to be around." Olivia whispered. It wasn't that she had something against the Potions Master, but he was quite intimidating. It didn't make Potions class as much of a fun one as she found others, like Charms or Transfiguration. Even though, as Liv had come to learn, Professor McGonagall could be quite intimidating herself when she wanted to be.
"Oh not at all, imagine having him as your Head of House. 'I expect excellency from all Slytherins. There will be no excuse for any wrongdoing.'" Hope reassured her before standing up straighter than normal and imitating the monotone drawl of the Potions Professor making both girls laugh as they walked out into the hall.
"Bowman!" A voice called from down the hall, interrupting their laughter as the two girls turned around to look who had called for Hope. Olivia recognized the two approaching girls from their sorting ceremony, but couldn't quite remember their names. She still greeted the two with a smile as they walked up to them, however, their eyes remained focused on Hope.
"What do you think you're doing?" One of the two girls asked with a glare, the tone of her voice making the smile on Olivia's face turn down as she realized the two weren't here for a pleasant chat.
"Why do you care what I'm doing Parkinson? Especially when I'm doing nothing wrong." Hope asked with a raised eyebrow as she sent the dark haired girl a glare of her own, as if she were daring her to say something else. Hope knew why Pansy was questioning her right now, but she didn't want to have it brought up in front of Liv. So far they always tried to make her stop being friends with the Hufflepuff while away from others.
"Hope, you should know by now that Slytherins don't spend time with the likes of her." Pansy spat, looking towards Olivia with an expression of distaste on her frowning face.
"I'm sorry? Did I do something to offend you? Because if so, I'm sorry it wasn't intentional." Liv quickly interjected, not wanting Hope to get into an argument on her behalf. She was sure she hadn't interacted with the two Slytherin girls before, but perhaps she had forgotten or had been rude to them at some point.
"You have nothing to apologize for Liv." Hope quickly reassured, her glaring eyes never moving away from Pansy and Millicent.
"Are you really siding with her over members of your own house?" Millicent questioned in a tone which seemed almost threatening in Olivia's mind. She was about to pull on Hope's robes, try to convince her to walk away, but before she could Hope continued the argument.
"If I were you, I'd shut up and walk away." Hope threatened, her hand moving down into the pocket of her robes where she kept her wand. She was ready to use it if they continued on like this.
