"After how much those gits were bragging, putting down every other team, I don't even mind. If it means we get to watch Gryffindor kick their arses, I'm happy." Cedric spoke honestly.

The topic of Gryffindor's mysterious benefactor continued to circle through the castle even days after the gifts had arrived. Some people theorised it was McGonagall who had sent the brooms as she was starting to get tired of losing to Slytherin. Some believed one of the players themselves got their parents to buy the brooms, but wishes to remain anonymous. But soon it became clear that in a situation like this, it wasn't in a Gryffindor's nature to wish for anonymity. Whatever theories spread around, wherever suspicion fell, it seemed like nobody would ever really know the truth.

"So you're really okay with Gryffindor getting the brooms?" Gwen asked curiously, as if wanting to make sure Cedric wasn't angry by the turn of the events or envious.

"They do deserve it. They're great players as is, and it is true that some of them didn't have the best of brooms." Cedric explained. While rivals on the field, Cedric didn't hold anything against the Gryffindor team. "I actually suspect it might've been someone in Hufflepuff that helped organise it all."

Gwen almost choked on her food as she heard his words, but both Cedric and Olivia merely wrote it off as surprise by the fact that one of their own could have had a hand in this. "Why?"

"Well think about it, the oldest broom on our team is two, maybe three, years old. We don't need it, so a Hufflepuff helps the team that needs it most. It could have been a Ravenclaw too though, I'm not sure about their brooms. Everyone was pretty tired of the pompous boasting Malfoy and the rest kept up. " Cedric said with ease.

"Well whoever it was, the Gryffindors are more than grateful. Wood's had them practicing five days of the week so they can devise a whole new strategy." Olivia shared, sparing a glance towards the Gryffindor table. Even now, she could see Wood was rambling on about something, and by the way Angelina seemed as if she couldn't wait to run away, they could only suspect the topic was once more Quidditch. And Angelina seemed to get her wish not too long after.

Both she and Cedric were done with their dinner, and were patiently waiting for Gwen to finish before making their way back to the Hufflepuff Common Room. The Great Hall was still buzzing with students and plenty of staff and teachers as well, all waiting until the last second before they had to retreat. However, their leftover free time didn't last for much longer. With curfew nearing, many students started to leave the Great Hall in large groups.

"Shall we ladies?" Cedric asked as he noticed Gwen putting away her utensils. Although if he hadn't noticed that, he surely would have noticed the small whimper she let out as she bid farewell to the leftovers she was too full to finish off. As they laughed at their friend and her affection for the Hogwarts food, the three Hufflepuffs made their way through the halls only to come upon a stall as instead of moving through the halls and going forwards, all students came to a stop.
