What would you do if you discovered you are a witch? That is a question that eleven year old Olivia Hawthorne is faced with as a woman clad in green robes appears at the door of the flat she and her father live in, introducing herself as Professor M...

The sun streamed through the windows of the small London flat, the summer heat coming in pair with it. The delicious scent of breakfast being made within its walls spread throughout the whole flat managing to reach each and every room. And in one of those rooms, in her bed, Olivia Hawthorne stirred from her slumber. Whether she was woken by the morning light, or the mouth-watering smell, Olivia doubted whether she'd ever know the answer to that for sure. But it didn't matter either, because as she woke to both, they were what brought a small smile to her face.
Liv quickly jumped down from her bed. Feeling more than well rested, she didn't care much for her usual routine of begging for five more minutes, arguing that she could sleep in during the summer. She was far too excited to sleep any longer. Instead, she moved around her room happily, rushing to get dressed for the day before running out of the room and towards the kitchen.
"No running inside!" Ted's voice called through the flat as soon as the sounds of Olivia's thudding footsteps reached the kitchen. It was one of the rare rules to abide by when in the Hawthorne residence, and one Olivia continued to break almost on a daily basis. Ted had even started to debate whether his daughter should have actually been sorted into Gryffindor just because of how often she broke that one simple rule.
"Sorry dad! Good morning dad!" Olivia exclaimed. And while she may have said sorry, she still ran over to her father, who stood by the stove, making breakfast. Pulling on his sleeve so he would lean down, Olivia kissed her father's cheek before running to the table. Ted could only shake his head as he continued his work.
"Good morning Amelia." Liv moved her hands through the air with a wide smile on her face once she sat down in the chair opposite to the grey haired woman who, as usual, was in their flat for morning breakfast. Even though today she wouldn't be watching Liv as Ted had taken a day off of work, but it was already such a tradition for her to be there for their breakfasts that it would have been odd without her.
"Morning sweetheart. My, you're excited this morning." Amelia signed with an amused smile on her face as she watched Olivia get out of her seat again as she moved to set the table while still never taking her eyes off of Amelia's hands so she could see what was being said.
"Well of course I am. Are you sure you don't want to come with us? There's no rule saying you can't." Olivia questioned curiously. There was never an explicit rule saying Muggles aren't allowed to go to Diagon Alley. After all, how were the parents of Muggleborns like herself supposed to take their kids shopping if they couldn't enter the magical street? There was no point keeping them out if they already knew about magic itself.
"Oh I'm sure darling. You can take me with you some other time, when you come back for the winter holidays maybe? That way you don't have to worry about having to get things while also giving me a tour." Amelia reassured her. Of course, there were some other reasons for Amelia choosing not to go. Knowing the story of what happened the last time, she thought it be best she don't go during the time when Diagon Ally is full with all kinds of witches and wizards helping their children get supplies. But Amelia knew better than to mention any of that to Olivia.
