While Olivia's morning routine usually consisted of a lot of protest in retaliation to one simple act: having to wake up, once she had returned to Hogwarts, and their classes started, it was one she sadly had to loosen up. She still complained, a lot, but she knew she had to do it, no matter how much she didn't want to. However, on that particular morning, the act of waking up didn't seem as hard.
Knowing what awaited her in the day actually made the Hufflepuff excited, and eager to get to her classes. On that day, she would be having her first Care of Magical Creatures class. And to make it even better, this year, Hagrid was the one teaching the class. The moment they were supposed to sign up for their elective classes of the year, the first Olivia put her name to was Care of Magical Creatures. And while reading through the schedule made her realize she'd be sharing this class with the Ravenclaws, Olivia still couldn't hold back her excitement.
Knowing who she'd be sharing the class with, made the girl realize that she hadn't had the opportunity to really befriend any of the Ravenclaw students in her year. She hoped that, by the time the class was over, she could perhaps make at least one more friend, or at least acquaint herself with someone. After all, in her opinion it was high time, considering she'd been sharing classes with those same students for two years prior.
"Have any of you managed to actually open the book? Mine kept trying to bite my hand off when I first attempted... it wasn't fun." Hannah asked her dorm mates as they followed the path towards where their class would be held. She managed to keep the book quiet in her arms, but continued to be alert in case it woke up.
"I couldn't either, but according to my dad we had to stroke it. I didn't try though, it's a really odd book and didn't want to take any chances." Susan replied, all three of them giggling as they thought of the unusual choice of book. Although, when she thought about it Olivia wasn't really surprised by the book. It seemed like a perfect fit for something Hagrid would choose.
"I'm sure we'll all be taught the proper way to open it, first thing. Hagrid is really nice and friendly, and he would never intentionally hurt anyone or anything. It's in his DNA." Olivia reassured her friends and sent them a small smile to help ease some of their nerves. Both Susan and Hannah knew that their friend was close to the half-giant, but they still felt uneasy when it came to him. And while she was saying it to reassure her friends, in a way, her words also managed to confuse Susan and Hannah as well.
"DNA?" Olivia heard the question in stereo , as both Hannah and Susan felt the need to check whether they had heard their friend correctly. It made Olivia let out a small laugh.
"Oh, I don't really understand it, but according to my dad and Gwen's mom, DNA is, essentially, what makes us... well, us. It's like we have our personal code, if we were in Muggle school I guess we'd be learning about it by now." She explained the best she could as she herself hadn't yet had much chance to study up on it properly. "My dad sometimes keeps me updated to Muggle subjects as well so I would have more knowledge from our world as well, but some plans changed this summer, so we didn't fully get to it."
