I woke up a little worst for wear, mixing my drinks probably wasn't the smartest idea.
I was in an empty bed, I checked the time and it was 1pm in the afternoon!

Slowly I got out of bed, I could smell the alcohol still on my breath as I yawned.
The shower woke me up but I'd not washed my hair, I couldn't handle the noise of the hair dryer or having to tip my head upside down.
Everything was so bright to me as I made my morning coffee in the naturally well lit kitchen,

"Afternoon Jodie" Betty came through,

"I haven't slept-in like this for a long while" I croaked,

"Good night?" She smiled,

"Yeah it was fun.. I had a little too much bubbly but hey, it was free" we chuckled, "Have you seen Marshall?"

"Well lets see.. He went for a morning workout and then I think he said he was going to take Hailie and Alaina to see their nana"

"Oh no.."

"What?"

"Well I was meant to go, he told me a couple of days ago. What kind of mood was he in?"

"He was a man of very few words this morning"

"That's usually not the best sign" I rubbed my forehead, brilliant,

"I know there was a little situation last night, we had a little talk"

"You did?" I took my coffee and sat down at the breakfast bar,

"Yes. He was concerned about you not returning his calls, he was pacing about for around an hour so I asked him if he was okay and that's when he started to open up"

"What was said?" Guilt kicked in,

"Uhm... He started off telling me that this wasn't like you and he didn't understand it, and then he got somewhat angry because he found out where you was and knew you was out drinking, he then went from that to worried because you was out on your own, he was cursing at the TV when you denied your engagement, he wasn't happy at all"

"I'll be in for it today, god sake.. I didn't want to be the one confirming the engagement on my own"

"Why? Haven't you both agreed to come out with it?"

"We have but I feel like it should be him saying it, I don't know why but I felt last night like if i broke the news I'd get it in the neck"

"You're really paranoid about upsetting him aren't you dear?"

"Sometimes. I hate arguing with him because he makes me feel so small.. Last night do you know what he said to me?"

"Go on?"

"I told him I'd won an award and he laughed at me and called me a nobody"

"He did?" She looked surprised,

"He did and he made me feel this small" I gestured the size of a pea with my fingers, "He was like, 'how've you won something you're not famous for anything'"

"Sweetie I wouldn't take it to heart. He was probably masking the worry of the fact that you're stepping into your own spotlight"

"That's what I thought, but, I would of thought that'd make him more proud that I'm not just some nobody on the end of his arm, people are starting to kind of... respect me, you know?"

"Hm... But that's not gonna be how he see's this. If I know Marshall, and obviously I do, I'd say he views this as you being more likely to experience more of the celebrity world which can make people change. When he met you you was probably in awe with everything he introduced you too, so he had the upper hand, you know, 'cause he didn't have to make much of an effort to impress you"
