Marshall and Nathan had a bit of an argument when we had returned home after Hailie's party, it started because Marshall had been true to his word and grounded Nathan in the house but it soon escalated to the subject of their mum,

"Don't make this day end on a bad note" I walked around the chair Marshall was sat on, massaging his ever so tight shoulders, he stayed quiet but let out a big sigh,

"I don't want it too" he took my hand and pulled me around, I took a perch on his lap, "You was quiet today" he looked at me concerned,

"Quiet? What do you mean?" I frowned,

"Well you seemed to be more concerned with checking on your makeup rather than getting involved with the kids"

"Marshall?" I scowled with confusion,

"Tell me when you got up to attended to them?"

"Hey don't take your mood out on me." I stood up from him,
"And what exactly is the point you're trying to get across here?"

"My point? My point is I want you to try harder with my daughter Jodie"

"Wow..." I was actually speechless,
"So you don't think I try with them? Really?"

"No I know you do when we're home and shit but I mean like today, I don't want you to be so distant when we're at family functions our out doing something"

"But it was Hailie's day and I definitely didn't want to step on Kim's toes, she was around them most of the day"

"Jodie you can't step on her toes, she's their mom. Look all I'm sayin' is don't be scared to give them a hug or play with 'em, you know?"

"I know I do but I dunno, it just felt strange to me to be attending to your children in front of everybody, I just... I felt they'd be watching me and thinking who does she think she is their mum? You know?" As soon as I said that sentence his face dropped in confusion,

"What? Jodie, you're my fiancée, it ain't like you're just a girlfriend or some one night stand, you're soon to be their step mom"

"I know, I do.. I just didn't want you thinking I was like, getting too involved with your family, it's just me, I overthink absolutely everything"

"Wow man..." He shook his head and bit in his bottom lip, then looked me in my eyes,
"If anythin' I want you to feel like you can see Hailie and pick her up or, or take her for a milkshake, you've got that ring on your finger for a damn good reason and that's because I want you to be our family" he stroked down my hair and kissed me, it felt so pure and meaningful,

"Duly noted" I whispered as I pulled back from the kiss,

"Good, but don't be bitchin' when a lollipop gets stuck in your hair or some shit" he handsomely smiled,

"That won't happen, no lollies will be anywhere near me or my clothes" I chuckled,

"And you think parents get into those situations 'cause they want to? You got a lot to learn baby girl" he smirked, patted my thigh and got up,

"Where're you going?" I watched him,

"The studio, you comin'?"

"But it's Christmas Day?"

"Yea and I've got work to do" he shrugged,

"I'll be down in a minute" I smiled,

"Aight" he went to walk out of the room,
"Oh uh, could you bring me a couple of drinks?"

"Sure" we smiled at each other and then he left me to my own company. I got out my phone to call up my parents...

"Merry Christmas mum!" I smiled when she answered,
