A week had passed since Adrien transferred, and it had been a very long and miserable week indeed for him. Which was actually kind of weird seeing as he just happened to become the most popular boy in the school almost overnight. Courtesy of fame, wealth, good looks and borderline "perfection".

But Adrien had realized something recently. He didn't dislike Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He loathed her more than anyone else in the entire school. And that was certainly saying something, since he found most people in school, as with almost everyone that didn't reside in his own mirror, to be terribly annoying and pathetic.

But this Marinette girl was definitely a special case, probably the most annoying person he ever met. She was in every single one of his classes. Experts claim that the human body has over over a hundred trillion nerves. Somehow Marinette had managed to strike every single one of his.

Adrien wanted nothing more than to avoid this girl at all costs. But at the same time, he wanted to be as close to her as possible. Just to annoy her, of course. He got his wish.

"Adrien, truth or dare?" asked Nino.

Classes were over, and the two friends were hanging out together, chatting. Eventually, the two got bored and decided to play truth or dare.

"Dare" said Adrien, without the slightest bit of hesitation. He always chose dare for two reasons. One, they were funner. Two, he didn't want to be asked any....private questions.

"I dare you to go and have a conversation with someone" dared his friend.

"....seriously? That's too easy!" scoffed Adrien, who was expecting something challenging.

"Not if that someone is Marinette Dupain-Cheng" said Nino with a smug look on his face. Adrien immediately spat out the Cola he was so aggressively drinking.

"WHAT!?" he spluttered "Why should I talk to her!?"

"Because I dared you to" came the reply.

"I forfeit" said Adrien, slumping his shoulders in defeat.

"THE Adrien Agreste...backing out from a dare? Never thought I'd see the day" Nino smirked "You do know that you'd have to become my slave for three weeks if you forfeit, right?"

Adrien shot him a glare. "Fine!" he snapped petulantly, storming off in the direction where his worst enemy was sitting.

He hesitated for a moment before saying anything to Marinette. He noticed that she sat all alone, daydreaming about something, with a smile on her face. She just looked so calm and peaceful and even kind of.....beautiful, he admitted.

Adrien quickly shook the thought off his brain. No way he'd let himself think such weird things! That was beneath him!

"Why are you sitting alone? Your so-called best friend abandoned you or something?" he asked haughtily. Marinette immediately snapped out of her daze and back into reality. Adrien felt slightly guilty.

"Hey! I'm talking to you, dumbass! Answer me!" he snapped at her, a bit annoyed by the fact that she simply ignored him and went back into cloud-cuckoo-land. She sighed irritably.

"Please go away" she told him. She really wasn't in the mood for human interaction. Not that she ever was, anyway.

"I can't! This is important!" he replied heatedly. He immediately regretted saying that. What he just said wasn't wrong. But it definitely came out the wrong way.

"Fine. What is it?" Marinette replied coldly "I'm kind of busy right now, so please just get it over with as quickly as possible"

Adrien paused for a moment. He seriously wanted to bang his head against the wall right now, several times. He didn't even plan on what he'd say to her. But if just stood there quietly, he'd look like a total idiot. That would be absolutely humiliating.

He decided that the best thing to do at the moment was to say the first thing that came into his mind. What could possibly go wrong? Everything.

"You look cute when you smile" was the first thing that made its way out of his mouth. Again, he felt the sudden urge to smack himself. Really hard. This was complete and utter embarrassment. Adrien's face instantly hued into the brightest shade of scarlet imaginable.

"I-I'm not cute!" snapped Marinette, her pale face now flushing furiously as well. Adrien again resisted the urge to kick himself where it really hurts.

"Don't flatter yourself! I was just joking, okay!?" Adrien said snappishly. He was practically fuming by now. He'd do anything to get over this humiliation. Anything. Marinette quickly averted her gaze, internally cringing.

"Well...it was the lamest joke ever..." she said "Was that all you came here to say?"

"N-no, it wasn't" he seethed.

"Then what is it?" she asked coolly.

"I actually came here to confess my....err....undying....hatred for you? Yeah, my undying hatred for you..." he trailed off awkwardly.

"Well then, there's nothing to confess. I already know" Marinette said haughtily. And with that she walked off, feeling extremely irritable. And extremely embarrassed.

The feeling was definitely mutual.

Adrien facepalmed and walked back to where Nino was sitting. He was absolutely enraged to see that he was laughing.

"Dude, that was absolutely hilarious!" Nino said in between his uproarious laughter "I seriously should have recorded it!" Adrien glared at him.

"Do me a favor, Nino and never mention this again" he said, internally cursing his friend.

"I don't think I'd be able to do that" replied Nino with a smug look on his face. Adrien groaned. He was never going to hear the end of this....
