Needless to be said, Alya was happy to see the boy come up to them by himself to initiate the conversation. She hadn't really expected that.

Marinette, on the other hand, wasn't exactly pleased.

"Its going great, thanks" she said curtly. Luka just gave her a warm smile almost succeeded in making the usually cold and unapproachable girl blush.

"I'm happy to hear that" he said politely "Are you free tonight, Marinette?"

"No, I have to study" said Marinette, trying--and failing miserably--not to develop any sort of attraction towards the handsome boy smiling at her.

"So I'm guessing that you're a bit of a workaholic?" asked Luka conversationally.

"She sure as heck is!" Alya piped up before Marinette could manage to get whatever she had planned to reply to this comment out of her mouth. Luka laughed lightly.

"I think that adds to her cuteness. I personally find hardworking girls to be very attractive" he said with a playful wink. Marinette blushed again. What was wrong with her all of a sudden? Why did this boy have to be so...so...effortlessly perfect?

Suddenly Luka turned around and walked off, his steps humble yet sophisticated. Before leaving, however, he turned towards them and spoke.

"You seem like a fun person, Marinette. I look forward to spending time with you in the future" he said . And with one last longing look at her, he walked away.

Marinette was speechless. Did he just call her a 'fun person'? No, he couldn't have meant it! He was probably trying to tease her or play some kind of sick joke!

Alya looked at her best friend, a smug expression on her face.

"All men are stupid perverts and cheats, huh?" she teased. Marinette glared at her.

"I never said that all men are stupid perverts and cheats, Alya! I just said that most men are!" she said, feeling irritable.

"So is this Luka Couffaine an exception?" asked Alya brightly. The other girl sighed and looked away, uncharacteristically shy.

"I guess you could say that..." came Marinette's reluctant reply. Alya failed to suppress a grin.

"Hey there" said Adrien flirtatiously "Could you please dial down your hotness? Its causing global warming"

"That was the cheesiest pickup line I've ever heard" said Kagami "You really think that idiocy will work on me? Try a bit harder next time"

"How much harder must I try to make you mine, my Aphrodite?" said the boy dramatically, clutching at his chest "You're pretty. I'm cute. Together, we'd be Pretty Cute"

Kagami laughed.

"Still not enough" she said playfully.

"Alright then. How about this?" Adrien paused for a moment "I'm lost. Can you give me the directions to your heart?"

"What an amateur" Kagami teased "Keep trying. If you can".  Adrien smirked.

"You're cool. I'm cool. Why not go heat things up a bit together?" he said with a wink. Kagami whacked him playfully in the head.

"Too desperate" she pointed out, not unkindly. Adrien sighed. This was hard...

After classes were over, Alya was not even a bit surprised to see Marinette rushing up to her, desperate for guidance.

"Alya, help me! I...I think I'm kind of attracted towards Luka but...well, I shouldn't be!" she said, gasping for breath.

"Why shouldn't you be?" said Alya, amused.

"Because I'm supposed to hate guys, remember!?" said Marinette, as though it was the most obvious truth in the entire universe. Which it kind of was, to be honest. Alya rolled her eyes.

"Luka is a nice guy, Mari. He's not 'evil' or 'perverted' or anything" she sighed "You should go out with him. It'll broaden your perspective a bit. You'll learn to open your mind"

Marinette looked away. Alya wasn't wrong about that. Marinette herself often wondered if her views were somewhat narrow-minded.

But she didn't really plan on changing. She had become so used to the idea that anything that might contradict or oppose her beliefs just felt so.....wrong.

"...what if I don't want to open my mind?" she said quietly "What if the very thought of changing my perspective scares the hell out of me? What if--"

"Then you'll just need to step out of your comfort zone" said Alya comfortingly "And face all your fears head-on. It'll work out just fine"

"I'll--I'll try, Alya. I'll try" said Marinette thickly. Her friend smiled.

"That's the spirit"
