Adrien's phone buzzed unexpectedly

Adrien's phone buzzed unexpectedly. He grimaced. Who the hell would text him at this hour? He sighed and picked up to read the message.

'I overreacted, sorry' it read. Who was this guy? Adrien checked the person's number. He wasn't in his contacts. He never called or texted him either.

'Who is this?' he typed.

'Don't play dumb. You know it's me, Marinette. Alya asked me why I looked so mad when she came over to my place after the thing at the library. I told her what happened and she reckons I overreacted and that I should apologize. She gave me your number and told me to text you or whatever. So yeah, here I am'  came an almost instant reply.

He scoffed at this. Literally nobody else would write an entire paragraph of a text and try so hard to check for any grammatical errors. Yup, it was definitely her. He smirked a bit and saved her number. Then he continued the conversation.

'Yeah, whatever, it's fine. Why did Alya come over though?"

'She needed help deciding what to wear at that Christmas party thing. So being the so-called "fashion expert" I am, I did. She loved my choice, apparently.'

'How the hell are you a fashion expert? All you ever wear are overalls or boring, plain sweaters'

'Being aesthetic and being fashionable are too different things. Anyway, I have to stop texting you now, my dad's getting all suspicious. Goodnight'

Adrien couldn't keep himself from smiling. He typed  'I love you' and sent it to her. But then, he remembered that he wasn't supposed to. So he hastily deleted it and instead, he just sent:

'Goodnight'

Marinette had prepared herself for whatever her dad would tell her about school dances. Normally, she was not particularly fond of the idea but this time....she wanted to go.

She didn't know why though, maybe there wasn't even a genuine reason. But something was pulling her; some magnetic force of attraction.

But of course, she didn't know how to explain that to her dad. Her mom was thrilled when she heard about the dance and bombarded her with questions and asked her why she wanted to go single. Marinette had told her that it was because she didn't need a partner to enjoy herself. She was hoping that this sentence would convince her dad into letting her go.

It didn't.

"Do you  even know what they do at these parties, dear? " he had asked her.

When she had replied that she did, in fact, know about it and that she was more than ready to defend herself if anyone tries to have their way with her or if someone offered her a drink, he just sighed exasperatedly.
