"So that's how it is?" Bruno spoke leaning backwards on the roof's railing, trying to take in the story Cindy described to him, swirling a lollipop in his mouth. "To tell you the truth it's still a lot to handle. I barly believe what you said about my..." He paused. "powers."
"Yeah." Cindy leaned on the railing as her locket hung from her neck shining in the sunlight. "But I had to tell someone. Holding it in wouldn't be healthy."
"That's true." He stared at her through his peripheral vision without moving. "There's something I would like to know." Cindy turned her head to him. "What are you going to do about your aunt not being..." He shrugged. "Your aunt?"
"I left a little before she usually wakes up." Cindy sighed as she contemplated his words. She knew what Clara had said meant they were probably not even some kind of twelfth cousin, twice removed. "I couldn't handle seeing her, at least not yet. When, and if she picks me up, then I'll have to come face to face with her. I don't know what she thinks."
"What about you?" He asked looking at her skeptically. "What are your feelings on the matter?"
"I think that I'd like to go on just how we used to be." Cindy intertwined her fingers. "Even if she's not my aunt, I can't think of my life without her. She's been more of a mother to me than anyone else. She's all I have and I don't want to ruin that."
He gave an assured grunt. "One more thing." He placed his hands into his pockets. "Why are you telling me about this? I don't have anything to do with your past."
"No you don't." Cindy chuckled as she covered her mouth. "It's easy to talk to you, seeing how you have powers I'm not completely deranged. Think about it, who else would believe me besides you who have been fighting with your power?"
Bruno considered it only a moment before concurring. "You would indeed appear to be mental. However don't think I'll always be here to chatter to."
"Harsh." She crossed her arms. "Aren't we some sort of friends? I helped you with your powers and I want to help further with it."
"I don't plan on developing my powers." Was the immediate reply. "I didn't ask for it nor do I want it. I am grateful that you taught me how do deal with the pain, but I will not be evolving it. I see no need."
"No need." Cindy barked at him with a disgusted tone. "We were given a chance to help others beyond what others can do. We can-"
"What?" He cut her off annoyed. Who was she to be talking to him in that way? "Make a better world? The world isn't happiness and flowers."
"After hearing what I said, you think I believe the world is even somewhat similar to flowers and happiness?" Cindy laughed sarcastically. "I have never thought of our world like that."
"Then you have a decent head on your shoulders." The boss glared at her sharply. "I don't expect you to understand my thoughts, but I do expect you to respect them."
Cindy didn't reply but hung her head, casting a shadow over her face. Bruno couldn't tell what expression she had, but he stood firm on this.
"Besides," He shook his head. "We're just kids, we can't do anything. The world won't change because some teenagers are trying to get it to."
They stood there in silence for a little bit before the bell rang, cutting through the tense air.
"Despite being a teenager..." Cindy mumbled without making a move or gesture. "I have been changing the world. Doing everything I can to do so, even though it isn't a lot. You'll see. Everyone can make a deference no matter how young, no matter height, weight, disabilities." She jerked her head up and scowled right at the boss. "Everyone can make a difference!"
She ran by the dumbfounded boss and down to their next class as he stood wide eyed. She had said it with such fierceness.
"Boss!" One of his minions ran up to him out of breath. "Who just exited?" He huffed out the question. "Did we do a bad job keeping people out"
"Don't worry about it." Bruno walked passed him to the door. "Let's go." The minion was confused but followed nevertheless.
