It had been weeks since the new teacher came to school, and between her not doing jobs and nothing special happening at school, she was having a normal, boring life. The only thing new in her life were the sneakers her aunt had bought her, which were a pain for they left marks on the floors in the house and she found herself wasting all her free time cleaning up after them.
So with all the nothingness going on in her life, she readied herself for another one of those boring days while she got ready to go to school.
Clara and Cindy got into the car and were on their way to school when they drove up to a car stopped in the middle of the road. Clara put the car in park behind him and poked her head out of her window when someone grabbed her while putting a rag over her mouth.
Not expecting the sudden attack, Clara couldn't react fast enough before the same person chopped her neck, causing her to be knocked out. Cindy stared on, confused and shocked.
"You're coming with us." Another's voice spoke breaking in the window. Shattered glass landed on Cindy's lap and cut her hand as she tried to unlock herself from the seat belt. With a yelp she pulled her hand away from the sharp shatters and the man reached in to unlock the door.
"No!" Cindy yelled looking over to Clara hoping she had somehow woken up, but there lay her aunt, out like a light without an appearance of waking up any time soon. "Aunt!" She cried out. "Please wak-" The man put a rag over her mouth to stop her yelling.
"Shush!" He spat his words angrily at her as he scanned for anyone not wanted.
She tried to get her voice out but the rag muffled her shouts. The feeling of terror creeped through her as the man yanked her out of the car and toward the one in front of them.
Cindy couldn't get herself to think straight. Was it her parents? Why did they wait so long to make a move? It had been at least a month.
"Get in!" The man pushed her as she struggled to go against them, all the while energy draining as if she would fall asleep any second.
"Just do what I say!" The man barked at her, but nothing effected her as her eye lids started to close. She was so tired that she could hardly keep them open, however she knew losing consciousness meant an instant win for them.
"Do you want me to cut you up?" The man spoke as her legs buckled beneath her. "Finally!" He laughed. "I was wondering how long I had to wait for this drug to.... I am going..." Cindy only caught a few words he said before shutting her eyes.Cindy opened her eyes but it was like she hadn't as she stared into a room that was almost completely black except the little light from under what she assumed was a door. She pushed herself up with one arm as she grabbed her aching head with the other.
"What is this?" She tried to think about it but the more she thought the more her head ached. What was going on? "I can't..." She grabbed her head with her other hand as the aching grew. "Ow.... wha- why..."
She scanned the area hoping something was there to help with the pain. What could she do to make it stop? She turned to the light and crawled over with one hand still holding her head with the other. She placed her face down and tried to see what was on the other side.
She saw several feet she guessed were men's by the size and look of the shoes. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but suddenly a new pair of feet showed up running and the rest started to run after them. One of the new feet lifted and someone else's stepped back, the indication that they wear kicked by the newcomer. Now the new one was surrounded by the others. She didn't think that they were going to get away, but alas, one after another, the owners of the original feet fell, then the new feet started to rush to the door she sat behind.
Not wanting to be hit, she moved back enough for the door to open, and in the nick of time, for exactly as soon as she was out of the way, the door swung open, letting in the owner of the feet she watched take down twelve men.
"Bru...no?" She whispered staring at him as he stood with the light behind him casting a shadow over his face making it hard to tell who he was. "Is that you? How did yo- Ow!" She grabbed her head again and he bolted toward her. "It hurts." She rubbed her temples hoping for even a little relief.
"What did they do to you?" His hands shook as he kneeled next to her not knowing what to do.
"I don't know..." She closed her eyes and tried to think again. "I can't think... I was."
"Don't worry about it." He spun around and placed his hands at his hips with his fingers facing her, still crouching down. "Get on. We need to get out of here."
"How did you get in or know where I was?" She reached out for him and wrapped her arms around his neck as he grabbed her legs and stood up.
"I'll explain later." He spoke to her gently as he scanned the room he was in only a moment ago. "When we get out of here I'll tell you everything, but for now I need you to be silent."
"Okay... I'll..." She trailed off and soon she wasn't making any noise.
"Cindy?" He turned his head toward her and sighed as he saw the sleeping girl. "Okay. Sure." He shook his head. He had to get out before he ran into anyone. With her asleep, fighting was nearly impossible.
He walked quickly at points and slowly at others giving his best to avoid any of the henchman loitering around. It was a good thing that he went to find her after she didn't show up to school. Who knows what would happen if he didn't.He sat in his chair that morning awaiting her arrival while keeping a watchful eye out for Mr. Adams. Surely the voice he heard that day was Ace's inner thoughts, if so, then this new teacher was bad news and he wasn't going to lose track of him. However, when the first class was about to start and there still wasn't any sign of Cindy, he began to worry. What had happened to stop the most enthusiastic about school to be a no-show? Nothing good.
He glanced over to Kevin who seemed to be a little confused as while.
"What do you think happened?" Kevin asked scratching the back of his head. "Were they caught up in traffic?"
"No. I don't think that would have stopped her." Bruno replied shacking his head. "She would have ran if it meant being here on time."
"Ah-hmm." The teacher coughed as he stood in front of them. "Would you not have a little conversation while I'm teaching?" He sighed as he spoke, "If Cindy was here she would listen intently. Oh why did you forsake me!?" He frowned and headed back to the blackboard.
"But she wouldn't miss class!" Bruno shouted as he stood up and banged on his desk. "We all know that! So are we going to sit here or go check on her?"
"You are going to sit there and listen to me." The teacher pointed at him. "I'm so surprised that you're acting this way. It's not your personality to care so much."
"I think he's right." They all spun to see the principal in the doorway. "You should inspect this immediately." She gave a knowing nod to the teacher and he closed the book.
"Why didn't anyone say something sooner?" He demanded angrily as he rushed to grab his coat. "We most find her."
"We're coming!" Kevin exclaimed as he, too, stood up and quickly gathered his coat. "No one messes with our class."
The two adults went from the group of stern-looking students to themselves a few times before complying.
"But don't cause me any problems." The teacher spoke this and then lead his class out to find the missing person. They were heading straight for Cindy's house when Kevin notice the car.
"There!" He yelled pointing. "That's Clara's car!" They all dashed to the vehicle with worry. Why was it parked in the middle of the road. More importantly, why was it on?
"Clara!" The teacher reached the car first and helped to get Clara out. "What happened? Clara, can you hear me?" He shook his head at the teenagers. "She's out cold."
"What's going on!?" Bruno placed his hand on the door with the broken window. "Were they attacked? Where's Cindy?"
Kevin scanned the floor and walked over to some scuff marks. "These are most likely from Cindy's sneakers. She was mentioning her new ones were leaving marks all over her house."
"Good eye." Bruno walked over to the marks. They started at Cindy's side of the car and stopped in the middle of the road. "What happened?"
"My guess is that they got her in a car." Kevin nodded his head in agreement to his own theory. "The question is where did the car go?"
Teacher quickly pulled out his smart phone and tapped several times, then lifted his head. "I know where they went."
Bruno didn't know how he got such information, but that wasn't important. Cindy was in danger.
