Cindy let out her breath cutting the silence, then spoke. "Thank goodness." She rubbed her arm. "I was sure I wouldn't ever get you to believe me."
"Well..." Bruno turned away. "It isn't like I believe every word, but what you said wasn't wrong." He sighed shaking his head. "Life has defiantly gotten harder to understand."
"You'll get used to it." She smiled as she felt the heavy weight that was on her shoulders disappear.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and they both watched as it opened and one of the boss's minions walked in.
"What is it?" Bruno demanded, fear that what they were saying could have been over heard.
"There is someone at the gate calling your name, Cindy." He spoke without meeting her eyes.
"What is this?" Cindy pointed at the newcomer. "Your minions act as if you're the king! I knew that it was bad, but this is horrible."
"They may act the way they want," Bruno shrugged not really caring. "however, aren't you ignoring why he's here? There is someone looking for you."
"Oh yeah!" She rushed over to the railing and scanned the ground near the entrance. Sure enough, there stood someone she knew instantly. "Raz!" She shouted and the male turned his head to look up at her, then waved. "Why is he here?" She mumbled confused as she made her way back down the stairs and out of the building.
"Hey!" Raz waved again as she neared him. "I came to pick you up! You still live where you used to?"
"I do, but Aunt Clara picks me up." Cindy tried to explain, but Raz's eyes moved to something past her.
"Who are they?" Raz motioned to the two men who had walked up behind Cindy, but still kept their distance. "You still can't make girl friends?"
"Oh." She scratched the back of her head as she talked. "Well, you know that I'm going to this school. The truth is that there are only males here, except me and another girl who joined the school recently."
Raz's eyes narrowed at the two of her classmates and spoke under his breath in a volume only she would hear. "Have they done anything to you?"
"Not at all!" She waved her head and hands at the same time. "They have been nothing but helpful."
"What's this?" Cindy jerked around to find the Johnsons joining the other two.
"Is he looking into coming here?" Kadin asked with a smile while his sister held onto her same stern expression.
"Great." His sister added in. "What this school needed. More men."
Raz relaxed a little before he addressed them. "Hi, I'm Raz. I go to a school a little while off." He had a smile on, but Cindy felt like it was forced. "I went to the same middle school that Cindy did. I was her only friend."
"TMI..." Cindy playfully punched his arm to shut him up. "I think all you needed to say was that we went to the same middle school. Anyone would be fine with that."
"But they're your friends!" Raz reaches out a hand and ruffled her hair. "The only ones. I think they should know as much about you as possible."
"Correction!" Kevin cut in. "We used to be friends! She's a back-" Before he could finish his sentence, Bruno jabbed him in the stomach stopping him mid sentence.
"Don't listen to his nonsense." Bruno smiled as best as he could. "It is simply that. Nonsense."
Raz went back and forth from Bruno to Cindy, but didn't question it. "O..Kay." He nodded. "Got it. New friends, weird new friends, but friends nonetheless."
"Don't judge them off of what's going on right now." Cindy rolled her eyes. "There was a misunderstanding, so things are a little shaky."
"You are always making misunderstandings." Raz crossed his arms. "Like remember that time you called off our date cause you needed to do something, and it took you forever to tell me it was to help your aunt with the spring cleaning she had gotten you to do."
Bruno's eyes widened, as he felt his hands tighten into fists. "Date" He repeated the word.
"Oh!" Cindy's face reddened, while she fidgeted. "Yeah. That was a long time ago, though."
"We decided that best friends was better, so we ended it." Raz shrugged when he replied. "It was for the best."
"Definitely." Cindy nodded furiously. "It was a bad idea."
"I feel insulted." Raz spoke sarcastically.
"So..." Bruno felt uncomfortable, but needed to ask the question in his head. "How long did you two go out?"
Cindy blinked a few times before thinking about it. "One or two years." She ran her fingers through her hair. "It was so long ago."
"CINDY!!!" Everyone turned to see Aunt Clara calling for her niece as she waved out of the window.
"Guess that's my cue." Cindy started to walk when someone grabbed her arm. She turned to find Bruno with a serious expression.
"I..." He gulped. "I need to talk... to your aunt?" Though it sounded more like a question than a statement, Cindy nodded and they headed to the car together.
