Cindy still couldn't believe that Bruno had fought for her that first day, nor that she actually got him to sit through class. However, she couldn't think about that, she had to get to work.
The chief stood in front of her as she walked up to the bank. "What's going on here?" He asked disgusted at the sight of her. "Why are you here? The mayor shouldn't have begged you for this case. The bad guys are in there, not at home thinking they got away. There's no reason to send you."
"I'm just as curious as you are." She retorted coldly. It was cold that night and she didn't want to be out there either. She wanted to be at home taking care of homework. The teacher was doing this on purpose, thinking that she had free time, she didn't.
"Well, I don't care what you do as long as you don't get in the way of my men." The chief crossed his arms assertively as if that was that. "Don't get kidnapped either."
"Wouldn't that fall under getting in your men's way?" She smiled evilly when his face went red from anger. Being out in the cold wasn't worth that, but it did make her happier about it.
She entered the building following the police officers closely behind. Why she was there still wasn't certain, but she was going to do what she could.
They went through a few hallways before reaching the designated door, behind which, were the criminals. The police busted the door down and went in guns at the ready.
The two thieves were stuffing their duffle bags when they came in, causing them to stop and jerk toward them in unison.
"Stop your criminal activity now and come with me!" Cindy stepped in front of the officers as she shouted at them. She felt strong with the officers behind her, however the two only stared at her. "I won't repeat myself."
"Cindy!?" The female black figure called out to her in shock as she dropped the bag. "Why are you here?"
Startled by the fact that the woman knew Cindy, she stood absolutely still. Why did she know her name? Who were those two?
"This is great!" The man picked up the fallen sack and the lady walked closer to Cindy. "We can finally take you in!" He continued, the woman still getting closer.
"I don't know you people!" Cindy pulled back from them, fear rising in her. "And I'm most definitely not going with you, you're criminals. I've come to take you down, right now you're surrounded by the police so give up."
"You are working for the good side?" The man blinked in surprise then looked at the officers. "Those stupid agents!" He yelled clenching his fist. "Who are they to teach you such things? Why I ought to-"
"Darling." The lady snapped at him. "You need to shut up for a second while I try to comprehend this." She jerked back to Cindy who jumped at the sight of the lady's light hazel eyes. "You deary," She intertwined her fingers. "have classified us as strangers, but, you see, we're not! You know us, we're your parents." She opened her arms wide. "Why don't you join us?"
"Parents?" Cindy scowled at them, hearing the men behind her cock their guns. "You aren't my parents. They live in another country, they left me with my aunt when I was a baby because they didn't want to take care of me. No, you're not my mother."
"Oh?" The lady snickered evilly. "Is that what the agency told you? We abandoned you?" She frowned and went back to the man. "They snatched you from us because they didn't want you to end up like us. They wanted you to work for the common good, instead of your own welfare."
"Snatched me?" She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Were this people really her mother and father? Were they just trying to confuse her? That's it! "Stop your nonsense!" She yelled with newly found vigor. "You're lying and I'm not believing. So take your evil words elsewhere, they won't work on me."
"Stubborn one." The man snorted. "Just like you." He nudged the woman from the back. "She's even looks like you... except the crazy hair and eyes." He squinted his eyes to see better. "Why'd they let you do that to your beautiful wavy brown hair, and, what? Are those contacts?"
"No silly." The woman hit him in the stomach with the back of her hand. "That's her appearance after transformation. She's a powerful little girl now."
"Power?' He nodded with a grin. "Nice. I always knew she was going to be a very unique princess. Why I think that I told you that."
"Yes, that's why the agency took her." She glared as the front door opened to reveal the police chief as he entered. "Because she could do real damage on this pathetic world. Not even she knows yet."
"You two!" The chief yelled angrily at them. "Stop there and come with us peacefully or I'll have to use force, your choice." At the words, the men moved closer and around Cindy so she was behind them.
The two gazed at each other a moment before braking into a laughing fit.
"Mister police chief." The lady wiped a tear from her eye and spoke as she tried to calm herself. "I think we'll chose the third one." Precisely as she spoke there was a loud helicopter sound and the glass roof crashed down to the floor. With the new hole in the roof a ladder was thrown down and the two robbers grabbed onto it.
"We chose to leave peacefully," The man placed his one arm around the lady's waist and one foot on the bottom rung. "but not with you. However, We will be keeping these." He held out the two bags filled with money.
"Adios" Was the last thing they uttered before flying away with the helicopter, leaving the police, chief and Cindy staring up into the sky, motionlessly.
"Dang!" The chief yelled hitting the table next to him. "I hate them!" During his tantrum Cindy just stood still, not being able to move. "What's wrong with you?" The chief nudged her arm.
"Nothing." She turned to the door and made her exit while more cops swarmed in one by one trying to find clues to find out who those two were. She walked a few blocks over where she had planned the pick up and found her aunt waiting. However, before she spoke up she heard Clara talk.
"Yes, yes." She sounded annoyed with whomever she was conversing with on her cell. "Sir I told you that she is fine and thinks nothing of anything, so will you please calm down and stop calling me before she finds me speaking to you?" There was a moment of silence as the other was talking and Clara was listening. "Okay!" She rubbed her face. "I know exactly what I'm..." She caught a glimpse of something and Cindy rushed to hide behind the corner wall. "I'm gonna have to call you back." She closed the handphone and opened the door to the car.
Now, freaking out about what was going on, Cindy quietly stepped back. As Clara rounded the edge Cindy started walking again.
"Aunt!" She pretended to be surprised. "Why aren't you waiting for me in the car? Did something happen?"
"No." Clara scratched the back of her head. "I was thinking that if you were going to take any longer then I was going to have to use the bathroom."
"Then let's go home." Cindy pointed at the car.
"Aren't you going to change back?" Clara scanned her niece. "I mean, you usually do. You don't have to but it might be a good idea."
"Yes!" She clenched her hand into a fist and throw it up, transforming back into her normal self. "Now," She headed to the car. "Let's go."
