Stiles POV

I was alone, it's not like I particularly wanted to be around anyone today anyways, it was the day that my mother died when I was about 8 years old, I wanted Scott though, my best friend would hold me throughout the day and let me watch movies and talk about my mum all day but Scott clearly forgot what today was, Scott decided he was going to ignore all of my calls and text after my first call with a I'm spending the day with Isaac turning phone off see ya later bro

I frowned at the text and threw my phone down, I stared at the blank tv screen before deciding I couldn't be here today, I went upstairs, threw on yesterday's clothing and walked to the preserve, my dad was at work it seemed to be a reoccurring pattern every year he'd find a way to stay at work the day before, the day of and the day after, I was pretty sure my dad wasn't working those three days solid but would leave home and find an excuse not to come back till after, I no longer cared I had Scott with me, I knew my dad just meeded time but now.....

this year with Scott being the asshole he is, leaves me alone for the first time on this day in 10 years

I reached the overhang of the preserve that looks over the small town I live in after some time of walking, I let out a shakey breath from trying to hold back the tears as my thoughts raced to times with my mum, I went and sat down by a tree hugging my knees to my chest and head on my knees, I'd never felt more alone then how I did right now, finally releasing the tears I'd been holding in

Derek's POV

I was in my room alone reading a book, well at least I was until Laura and Cora dived on me shoving cake in my face before diving out of the room, I dived up wiping my face as I ran after my sisters, they had raced down and out the door "Derek" my mum called just as I reached the door, I frowned but went to go see what was up "take those two cakes if you want to get them back" she said gesturing to two chocolate cream cakes on the side "Eat them of squish them your choice" she said with a smile

I smiled at my mum before grabbing the two cakes and darting out of the house to find my sisters, I sighed after a while of not being able to find them, that was one thing they where good at, masking their scents they could be in the tree's watching me, I was just walking around aimlessly when I spots them, I frown seeing the sad looks on their faces "what's going on" I whispered walking up to them

Cora looks at me then points over toward a small boy sat against a tree, his breathing was steady and he was slumped against it "I think it's Stiles" She whispered back

I raised an eyebrow and looked over, I then looked at the cakes in my hand and walked passed my sisters over to the smaller male, "Stiles?" I said softly as crouching down in front of him, Cora and Laura shuffling to get a better view

Stiles lifted his head, his eyes where read and puffy and cheeks wet and stained with tears, he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, his eyes then glanced to the cake I held out a slight frown to my own face, Stiles slowly took the cake in his hands dropping his knees to sit cross legged as he stared at the cake he was now holding "thank you" he managed to whisper out in a croaky dry voice

I watched Stiles for a moment before Sitting in front of him "are you alright?"

Stiles nodded before shaking his head "not really, today of all days my best friend decided to forget what this day is and decide to spend time with his boyfriend who he has spent time with the whole summer because hell of cause I don't need him, why would I need him after 10 years" he rambled at the cake
