I get back to Victor's house, more than a little sad. First Jonathan is admitted to the hospital and may never recover, and now my friend of more than ten years is charged with murder.
Plopping down on the couch, I stare at the ceiling.
"Where have you been?" Vic asks.
I sigh, "I was with a friend."
"Which friend?"
"You wouldn't know him. His name's Jerome."
"Hm, you and Jerome close?" He questions, staring at me.
"Fairly close, well, we used to be."
"What happened?"
I sigh, "He killed his mom and then Jim caught him and now I am friendless."
"C'mon," he says, looking offended.
"Besides you, Vic. You're my friend, right?"
"Hell yeah, N/n. Best friends. Now, cheer up and let's go get drunk."
I crack a grin, "Sounds like a plan."
~
I wake up with an incredible hangover, and glare at the sunlight peaking through the window. With a groan, I place the pillow over my head.
I then exhale slowly and get up.
In the kitchen, Vic has already concocted a hangover cure. He hands me a glass, and I stare at it questionably.
"Don't think about it, just drink it. Trust me."
I do as I'm told and gulp down the concoction. "Thanks."
"No problem."
After eating some breakfast, I think about what to do today.
"You can tag along with me, if you want," Victor suggests.
"Thanks, Vic, but I was thinking of visiting Bruce. I haven't seen him for awhile."
"Need a ride?"
"Nah, I'm good. I'll take a cab."
He shrugs and lets me go. I look out the window at the rain and put my coat on, hood up. Splashing my way to a main road, I hail a cab and then head to Wayne Manor.
Once there, I just head inside, figuring that they won't mind. I find Alfred doing butler things and Bruce doing homework.
"Heya, fellas."
"Y/n!" Bruce yells, giving me a huge hug.
"Bruce! I swear you're taller, have you grown already?"
He laughs as Alfred walks up to us, "Miss Y/n. We weren't expecting you."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I should've called first."
"No, you're always welcome here," Bruce states.
I smile at him and ruffle his hair, "Thanks, Brucie."
"Of course," Alfred smiles.
"I'm not gonna stay, I just thought I'd visit."
Bruce looks a bit sad at this news, but I playfully punch him.
~
I played chess with Bruce, and he won. I ended up staying for a while, late into the night.
Bruce just went to bed, and Alfred and I were talking on the couch when a knock sounded at the door.
Alfred answered it and it turned out to be an old army friend of his. So, I left them to catch up.
Now, I'm walking home in the rain.
~
It had been a few uneventful days, and then I got a call from Jim Gordon.
"Hey, Jimmy, please tell me you need my help with a case or something."
"Y/n, it's Alfred. He's been stabbed."
