"Hello, Oswald," Jim greets as the man in question sits at the table.

Harvey, Jim, and I are at the nightclub that used to belong to Fish Mooney. We came to see if Oswald could help us.

I smile at him and dip my head in greeting.

"It's so good to see you, Jim, Y/n," Cobblepot says. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

I let Jim do the talking, "We're here about Loeb. We need to know where he keeps his blackmail stash."

Oswald laughs, "I can't help you. Falcone would be furious."

"Falcone doesn't need to know," I assure, leaning back.

His eyes flicker to mine, "What do I get in return?"

"A favour," Jim states.

"A favour from Jim Gordon? Worth it."

We wait in silence until he says, "Ten minutes with the files."

"Five," Jim counters.

"Alright then. Ready for a road trip?" Oswald smiles widely.

Harvey looks resentfully at the criminal, while Jim grimaces. I just smirk, enjoying the adventure.

~

We get to Loeb's farm, uncertain what to expect. Harvey makes a quip about how Oswald was in the trunk the last time they rode in a car. I chuckle at this, but Oswald doesn't find it too funny.

"Who are you?" A man asks, coming to stand by the car.

"Loeb sent us," Jim explains.

The man smiles, "Come on in."

The hairs at the back of my neck stand up. I don't like the vibe of the man or this house. An older woman greets us as well and we all sit at the table.

"You have a lovely home," Oswald comments, sipping his tea.

I stare at the pair, whose names are Jude and Marge, unblinkingly. They ignore me for the most part, although I see the woman glance at me a few times.

My hood is up, successfully covering my ears, and my tail is hidden by the coat. But, my hearing is sharp, and I can hear someone rummaging around upstairs, most likely in the attic.

A loud bang resonates.

"Must be the raccoon again, eh Marge?"

My eyes narrow. That was no raccoon.

"Would you like some cake?" Marge asks before leaving the room.

"Margie makes the best cake," Jude says.

An uneasy feeling blossoms in my chest. I don't think she's getting cake.

Just as I expected, Marge comes back holding a shotgun. Everyone reacts instantly, ducking for cover.

Marge is about to shoot Oswald when Jim takes her out, while Harvey and I take care of Jude. Jim hands Oswald the shotgun, "Watch them."

Gordon starts up the stairs to the attic, with Harv and I right behind him.

I didn't know what to expect, but I certainly didn't expect to find a woman hidden away. She asks, "Is the party over? Everything's so silent."

Shocked, Jim shares a look with Harvey.

~

We talked with her for a while. Her name is Miriam and she's definitely crazy. She showed us her new hobby: making jewelry out of starling bones.

To be honest, that was kinda freaky.

We discovered she killed her mom because she wouldn't stop singing and she knew it was Miriam's turn to sing.

Note to self, don't annoy this woman or she'll kill you with a candlestick.

Downstairs, I hear a grunt. We run down to find Jude and Marge gone.

"I'm sorry, Jim, they got the best of me," Oswald says apologetically.

Harvey scoffs while Jim and I sigh.

"Who's he? He looks like a bird," Miriam says, staring intensely at Oswald.

Under her gaze, Cobblepot gulps nervously.

~

In the end, Jim managed to get Loeb to give him Harvey's file and to send Flass back to jail. So, it was a win.

And now I'm heading back to the hospital to sit with Alfred.

I get there and see how late it is. Alfred is asleep and so is Bruce.

Instead of waking them, I simply sit with my back against the wall and allow myself to drift into sleep as well.

I sleep peacefully knowing that the people I love will be right here when I wake up.
