Part Twelve
"Do I know you?"
Jimin was in a good mood.Ever since Jungkook and him had started dating, he felt more relaxed, as if he had finally made peace with himself. The younger really knew how to make him feel special, how to make him feel safe and loved.
Today, the two men had planned to cook dinner together but both were out of groceries, so Jimin had to go shopping. He gladly did. Spending time with Jungkook always felt like heaven to Jimin. It made him feel on top of the world and he really didn't remember when he had last been so damn happy. Jungkook made him happy.
"Two of the best steaks you have, please," the blond placed his order at the meat counter of the nearest supermarket, a wide smile appearing on his beautiful face.
As she was unsure of whether they had any left, the butcher excused herself and went to the back of the shop to look, leaving Jimin all by himself.
Or so he had thought.
"In a party mood, huh?"
Hearing the stranger's voice, Jimin turned around in surprise just to face a tall man who, he thought, looked oddly familiar to someone.
"I guess I am," he answered after a shy chuckle. "Do I know you? I mean, have we ever met?"
The stranger smiled maliciously. "No, I don't think we have," he replied then. "I'm Namjoon."
"Jimin," the blond also introduced himself, putting out his hand to shake the other's.
"So, what's the occasion?," Namjoon wanted to know out of curiosity. "A date maybe? If so, you must be very serious about her to buy such expensive food."
He is talkative, Jimin thought. Since he himself was somebody who rather kept things for himself, he wasn't used to people being that keen on having a conversation. It was quite nice a change, though.
"Um, kind of. I'm having dinner with my boyfriend," the blond responded, suddenly thinking about whether he could already refer to Jungkook as his boyfriend.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Namjoon apologized. "I didn't know you were-"
"Gay?"
The taller chuckled, slightly blushing. "Yes." After a little silence he wanted to know how long the two had already been together.
"Not long, actually," Jimin answered with a shy smile. "It's still quite fresh."
"Seems as if you must really like him."
"Well, I do," Jimin said, not liking where the conversation was going. He couldn't even say why. Something about the other made him feel fairly uneasy. He narrowed his brows while looking at the man in front of him. The longer they were talking, the more Jimin was growing suspicious of him. "Otherwise it would be stupid to be in a relationship with him, don't you think?"
"I guess you're right," Namjoon replied calmly before asking an extremely inappropriate question all of a sudden. "So, are you hoping to get some action tonight or why the expensive food?"
Jimin nearly choked.
"Excuse me?"
"You know what I'm talking about." Namjoon was laughing to gloss over the weird atmosphere he had just created. He had forgotten how sensitive the younger apparently was to the topic.
"I really don't think that's any of your business," Jimin said harshly.
What sick a person must he be? Who on earth would ever want to know such an intimate thing about a stranger and who would ever dare to ask? How shameless.
"I'm sorry," Namjoon apologized once again although he actually didn't feel bad at all. He was here for a reason. He had followed the blond for a couple of days now. Getting information was all Namjoon desired. Despite his real intentions or rather because of them, he had to keep carrying two faces. "Forgive me. I can be quite blatant sometimes."
"Yeah, I can see."
There was a peculiar tension in the air.
The tall male was looking daggers at Jimin as if he was waiting for something. Neither was he speaking nor was he doing anything else to keep himself busy.
No. All he did was watch.
And Jimin didn't like it.
He didn't like being asked personal questions by a complete stranger. He didn't like being looked at with widely opened eyes that were following his every move. He didn't like having the man so near so that he could feel his breath on his skin. No, he didn't like it one bit.
"I'm so sorry it took so long," the woman at the counter spoke as she carried a paper bag with meat in it.
Thank God.
"No, it's okay," Jimin said exceedingly relieved about her coming to his rescue, and gave her a soft smile when he paid for the food. Although Jimin didn't see him, he could still feel Namjoon's gaze on him. And it made him feel utterly uncomfortable.
"Thank you! Have a nice day!" At least, she was delighted.
"Thanks, you too."
The butcher handed him the bag, whereupon Jimin started to walk out of the supermaket, shunning Namjoon's attention. Without success.
"Have a nice dinner," he called after the younger, seemingly friendly. But something about his voice had Jimin trembling.
Who was he, really?
And what did he want?
