I can't believe that these people are actually gonna take me home. There's been a lot of awkward silences during the interview so far though. And Sam almost gave away my secret. Luckily he noticed that I didn't want him to say anything so he stopped himself in the middle of his sentence. "Well Imma go get somebody so I can fill out the papers" Connor said. That's when I realized that there wasn't another girl in the room to be my mom so I stopped him. "Wait...don't I have a mom?" I asked. They all exchanged glances. "Um no I'm sorry. It's only me adopting you." Connor said. I was about to respond but I decided not to because I knew that if I opened my mouth the only thing that would come out would be a scream. I don't have a mom? I felt my whole body fill with pain as these words swam around in my head. I just couldn't comprehend the fact that I wouldn't have a mom. I mean it doesn't really make a difference but it's just....I don't know. My mom was the only thing I really had growing up because even though both my parents were drug addicts and they gave me away when I was just a little baby, my adoptive mom was always there. I did have an adoptive dad at one point but he was a total drunk and his abuse to me just got worse so my 'mom' moved us away from him to a place where I would be safe. The abuse lasted for about 6 years until my 'mom' finally found out about it. Once we moved away though everything started getting better. Well at least at home that is. At school everything was still out of control with rumors and people making fun of me. That's why I would get in trouble so much. I mean I wasn't just gonna sit there and let people talk sh*t about me. I spent most of my time in the principals office. "Delilah are you okay?" Somebody asked me. I shook my head to snap myself out of my thoughts. "Are you crying?" The one who I thinks name was Jc asked. "Well no dip she's crying Jc." Sam said. I giggled. "Awe there's that smile." Connor said. "So are you okay with not having a mom?" Kian asked. "Uh yeah I guess it's fine." I said, trying to avoid starting a conversation. Sam hugged me again as I squeezed his hand. "Awe" the guys cooed in unison. Sam rolled his eyes. That's when Mrs. Carter, the lady from the front desk, walked in. A big smile came across her face when she saw me hugging Sam. "So I'm guessing you guys have chosen this beautiful young lady." She said, ruffling my hair. "You bet!" Connor said. "Alrighty then sir! Come with me and I can get you all the papers you'll need to fill out. Delilah go upstairs and get your stuff together while I speak with Mr. Franta." She said. "But-" I started to protest. "No buts Miss Rose." She said while waving her finger at me. I groaned while she just laughed. "Fine." I said. Connor laughed. "Good luck with her. She's a wild one." Mrs. Carter told Connor. I scoffed causing all the guys to laugh and then ran up to my room to get my stuff. Maybe this won't be so bad.....jut as long as Sam keeps my scars a secret and none of them find out about anything that's happened in my past.
