"Gets mo na?" I watched him as his forehead formed wrinkles. Not a good sign. But he quickly reassured me.

"I think so. Anyway, I'll practice at home pa rin naman." He ended with a bright smile as he kept away his notebooks and study materials cluttered around the dashboard. I did the same, tucking my stuff in my bag as I told him, "I hope you really do."

"Thank you so much, Penny!" He exclaimed.

I can't help the smile forming on my lips. The eagerness in his voice took me back to our childhood where I'd spend our summers in their family's home. It was the same grateful tone in that "thank you" when I used to tutor him in our high school math at UPIS. Tita Anna would always ask me favors to help him.

"Alright, alright. I'll get going. Lunch muna ako. See you in class."

As I was about to open the car door, I felt a firm grip on my arm.

"Wait, wait! Why don't we just have lunch together? Tapos sabay na tayo pumunta sa class. Hatid na kita."

It took me a while to arrive at a decision. His invitation confused me. There's definitely something wrong with him. Asking me for lunch isn't just typical of Juan.

"C'mon! My treat!"

I'd be lying if I told you the offer wasn't tempting because it was tempting enough to make me say, "Fine."

"So where do you want to eat?" He asked.

"Ok na ako sa Area 2."
