Penny laid so completely still on the blood donor's chair. She looked like she was going to pass out at the sight of the syringe being ripped out of its plastic container.

"Hey, Pen. Relax. It just feels like a quick pinch. It'll be over in a few seconds." I told her so that she'd calm down a little but it failed.

"Pero bakit ang laki ng hiringgilya?" I laughed at her innocent comment. So did the nurse. I sat down beside her to make her feel more comfortable.

"Huwag mo na lang tignan. Just look at me." I suggested.

As she turned her head to face me, wrinkles on her forehead started to die down. However, a flush of red started to climb up her cheeks as she stared a little longer. In embarrassment, she quickly changed her gaze at something far away.

It was too cute.

I glimpsed down at her left hand which was holding so tight at nothing, forming a ball of fist as if she was ready to smack someone down. I reached for it.

"Hey. It'll be okay. Trust me."

I saw her breathing go calmly for a brief while. But soon as the second ended, she squeezed tighter at my hand and winced at the pain as the nurse inserted the needle for the blood draw. She inhaled sharply as she glanced at the blood going out of her system and into the bag.

It lasted for 10 minutes, and in those precious minutes, she never took out her tight grip on my hand. It was only 10 minutes, but she told me it felt like forever. Oh, how I really wished it lasted forever.

"Do you feel like a hero now? That pint of blood could actually save 3 lives, d'you know?"

"Yeah, it does feel good. There's this sense of accomplishment. It's amazing!" Her bright smile said it all.

Mesmerizing.

"Oh, talaga? Pero mukha ka nang kakatayin kanina." In response, I made the most annoying joke that made her slap the hell out of my arm.

"Is that all you got, woman?" I said to annoy her even more and she slapped even harder.

"Oy, may laro pa kami bukas! You'll get me injured!"

"Wala akong pake!"

This continued as we walked down the AS steps together, laughing like idiots.
