stay - doppio

you'd been seeing someone for a couple of weeks now, his name was doppio, he was strange and childlike sometimes but that only intrigued you more. you'd met him by chance one night, you were working a late shift at the bar and you were taking the empty bottles out back to be recycled. that's where you bumped into him, he appeared to be looking for somebody but had insisted on walking you home. you found no harm in that and you actually got to talking and found him really funny, he had such a strange and wonderful personality to him. once you'd gotten to your apartment, you gave him your number and that was that.

you'd been on a few dates since then and started to genuinely feel something for him, but he was always so mysterious and secretive. sometimes he'd just leave or ghost you for ages and then come back like nothing had happened, you weren't sure what was going on.
for a while you had the idea that maybe he was cheating on you but that just didn't seem right, doppio was so sweet and charming, but he was often quite a nervous person too so there's no way he could do that.

you trusted him, you just wished he'd trust you with whatever it was he was doing. one night you wanted to invite him over to spend the night, maybe try and take things to the next level together as you really wanted to make things work and be with him.

you asked him over for 7pm, put your best outfit on and bought a large amount of alcohol. you'd had it all planned out, you were gonna ask him if he wanted things with you to be official, to take things to the next step as a couple and you hoped you'd get some liquid courage from the drinking and possibly be able to get the truth out of him.

doppio arrived exactly on time, you heard him knock at your door and your breathing hitched. you quickly caught a glance of yourself in the mirror and answered the door.

he was stood there in a purple shirt and black dress trousers, he had a bouquet of y/f/f and his always warm smile greeted you. you invited him inside and accepted the flowers from him.

"thank you for these, they're beautiful." you gingerly kissed his cheek and went to put the flowers in some water, when you returned you watched doppio lightly brush over the cheek you'd kissed with his fingers. you blushed at how cute he was just standing there thinking about your touch, his hazel eyes met yours and you saw his cheeks redden from embarrassment that you'd caught him.

without hesitation you took his hand and led him to your lounge area, you asked him what his preferred drink would be and made he and yourself some alcoholic beverages. you laughed and joked for a while before settling on a movie and cuddling up in your couch, you both ended up getting pretty plastered and eventually couldn't even focus on the movie anymore.

"i'm so drunk." you laughed as you tried to pull yourself up from the couch, you suddenly tripped and fell backwards right into doppio's arms. your eyes met and you saw doppios grow wider in anticipation, his arms were firmly wrapped around you and your hands pressed to his muscular chest. you slowly inched closer, your eyes glancing to his lips and back up to his eyes again, he realised what you were asking and complied by leaning in.

the kiss was soft, your lips barely grazing his, you pressed harder into him and snaked your hands around his neck. after a few moments you separated and saw doppios surprised expression, nervously you moved away from him and looked at the carpet. you began fidgeting with your fingers and frantically started apologising to him.

"i'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable, i just really like you and i wanted to show you and-" without warning doppio smashed his lips against yours, this time trying to deepen the kiss by nipping at your bottom lip slightly, you granted him entry. he gripped your waist and pulled you closer to him, you were almost straddling him when he pulled away slightly to look at you. he stroked your cheek and smiled up at you, his eyes staring into yours.

"you're so beautiful y/n." he whispered, you couldn't help the grin appearing on your face. you climbed off of him, you both sat side by side biting your lips and feeling giddy like little school kids. he intertwined his hand with yours and squeezed tightly, you let a sigh of relief out.

"can i ask you something?" you spoke softly, glancing over to him. he shifted over to you, giving you his full attention.

"of course, anything." he nodded for you to ask your question.

"why do you always leave out of nowhere? like you act all strange and just leave, what's that about?" you watched his face fall, he diverted his gaze from you and began muttering to himself.

"it's hard to explain...i have a...an um, i have another person in-inside my head." he stuttered over his words and pointed to his head, you looked at him puzzled and touched his face gently with your hand.

"what is this other person like?" you searched his eyes for someone else, but all you could find was doppio. his gentle gaze, his oh so innocent demeanour and you hoped that he would stay like that.

"the boss," he spoke out, looking around him as if making sure no one else was here with you. "he's inside my mind, i'm him and he is me but it's confusing, he makes me do things." he looked ashamed as he spoke, you tilted his face towards yours.

"can't you tell him to go away?" you questioned, you could see his expression change he was worried, he gripped your hands and shook his head.

"i'm scared of him, he's so powerful and i'm not." you saw the fear in his eyes and that's when things got weird. he suddenly started clutching his head and crying out in pain. he moved away from you and fell onto the floor of your apartment, his eyes squeezed shut.

"doppio! doppio what's happening?" you raced to his side and tried to look for what was wrong.

"it's the boss, he's coming!" he screamed, you were scared and confused as to what was happening but you weren't going to leave him like this. you held him and repeated his name in attempt to soothe him. he twisted in your grip and his eyes shot open but they weren't his eyes. immediately you held his face and started looking for doppio in this strangers eyes.

"doppio please, don't leave me." you whispered, his body was stiff and the strange eyes were still staring out. "doppio stay with me, please stay with me." you cried, pulling him closer to you, the eyes slowly shut as you kept calling his name.

"stay with me, doppio...doppio!! dop-" you barely held yourself together as you gripped his lifeless body. you pulled him into the couch and covered him with a blanket, you pulled a mattress through and lay it beside the couch he lay on. you crawled onto the mattress and prayed for doppio to wake, you held onto his hand until you fell asleep.

you were pulled from your slumber by a pair of arms wrapping around you, slowly you opened your eyes and turned to see who was clutching at you. you're eyes widened as you saw that it was him, it was doppio! his eyes opened and before he could even take in what was happening you dove on top of him.

"doppio! you stayed!" you cried with happiness, wrapping your arms around him and tackling him into the mattress. he let out a laught and hugged you back tightly, he took your face in his hand and took in your features.

"you made him go away y/n, you've saved me." he grinned holding you close, a single tear fell down your cheek and you pulled him into you once again.

"stay with me doppio, don't ever leave me again."

idk what this was but i liked the idea n ran with it, doppio is so cute too :)
