(Katie's pov)

"Did you do what I asked?"

"Yes ma'am, the cameras were set up, per your instructions," Vlad said.

"Good," I said before hanging up the phone.

I grabbed my laptop, placing it in my lap. Opening it up, as it started turning on.

"Let's see how good your work is Vlad," I said as I clicked on a folder, that was named Nate.

The content from the folder filled my screen, I drug my mouse down, clicking on the folder named 'camera'.

Soon my screen was filled with live footage from Nathaniel's house. I clicked on a key, causing Nathaniel's voice to fill the room

"Looks like Jason is there," I said as I watched Jason and Nathaniel, bicker back and forth.

I was still watching them, when my phone started ringing. Looking over I saw it was my Father calling me, sighing I picked up my phone.

"Hello," I said, muting my computer.

"Hello Katie, how did it go today?" He asked.

"I may have fucked up a little bit," I admitted.

"How so?"

"I accidentally said something I shouldn't have."

"What did you say?" Father questioned.

"I called him Nate today, and he definitely heard me, I tried playing it off, but judging by his facial expression, he didn't believe me," I said.

The line went quiet for a few second's, before I could hear my father release a loud sigh.

"Katie if you can't do this, then you need to let me know, before this goes any further," he said.

"No, I can do this. I can do this, I promise, it was just a little slip up," I said.

"Yeah and that little slip of yours, could have just fucked up this whole thing," my father yelled.

"I'm sorry Father, I promise it won't happen again."

"It better not Katie, or else!"

"O-Or e-else?" I stuttered out.

"Just don't let it happen again Katie, or else I'll finish this myself," Father sternly said, before hanging up and leaving me in silence.

I sat there for a few second's, before pulling the phone away from my ear. With shaky hands, I placed my phone back onto the bed beside me.

Taking a few shaky breath's, I turned my attention back towards my computer screen.

I could feel my body tense as I noticed Jason nor Nathaniel were in the living room anymore.

"Shit," I said as I nervously started flipping through, the several cameras in the house, till I spotted them in the kitchen.

I let out a sigh of relief, as I relaxed against the headboard of my bed. Father was already irritated with me, I didn't need to make it worse.

I turned the volume up to hear their conversation.

"So, Nathan," Jason said with a smirk on his face.

"I don't like that look."

"There's this girl I know, that-," Jason started, but was interrupted by Nathan.

"Nope," Nathan protested.

"Nathan come on man, she's really sweet, and she's Sara's best friend," Jason said, trying to convince Nathaniel.

"Fine," Nathan grumbled in defeat.

Muting the computer once more, I moved the laptop from my lap. Removing the cover from me, as I crawled out of bed, walking out into the hallway.

I walked down the dark hallway, only stopping when I reached the basement door.

Reaching over, I flipped the light switch on, before making my way down the old wooden steps. Each step creaked loudly under my feet, until I reached the very last step.

I walked further into the dark room, looking around till I found what I needed.

Infront of me stood a portrait, that hung above an old, dusty, piano that had been left behind.

On top of the piano stood a candle, with a box of matches next to it. Reaching forward, I grabbed the box of matches. Pulling one out, lighting it as I brought it to the wick of the candle.

The area around me grew brighter, as the flame from the candle flickered.

"I promise Father," I said, staring up at the portrait.

"I promise I'll keep my promise," I said as tears started falling down my face.
