2nd POV:
Lately, you've been feeling befuddled and you're emotions have been getting quite complex. For those reasons, you've been avoiding Mirio quite often and you were afraid he would take notice and ask why. You wouldn't be able to answer because you yourself didn't know.
Not to mention...
You groaned in irritation as you scratched your head furiously.
My darn project is due today!
You mentally cursed at everything in your sight before letting your forehead collide with your desk. The Support Department was just as harsh as the Hero's Department. You don't even like being in the Support Department, you just didn't have much a choice. It was either this or the other departments even if they're just as important.
Then your speak-for-me device came to mind and you debated.
If you present this, it might get you a passing grade but...but then you would have to present with the device itself, and what if someone asked you that dreaded question. How would you respond? The bigger question here is, how will you react? What if you had the same awful reaction like you did yesterday? Having to go through those horrifying flashbacks in two days straight is definitely going to take a toll on you.
You're suddenly feeling nauseated and scoot your chair back to give you space away from your work area. Your lungs feel tight, it was getting hard to breathe and you immediately rose your hand. Power Loader took notice to your quivering hand in less than a minute and sort of knew what you needed, he quickly wrote you hall pass before waving you over. When you reached him and took the other end of the note, Power loader did not let go immediately as he examined you up close. "Is anything wrong?" You wanted to shake your head but could not manage to without you trembling , so you gave him a weak smile.
Upon turning around to head to Recovery Girl, you notice all your classmates eyes on you and that only seemed to add to your anxiety. You picked up your pace and didn't look past your feet, bumping into several other students on the way, some of them trying to pick a fight with but you ignore their antics until finally arrive with Recovery Girl. You rushed to a chair and did not waste a second to plop down on it, Recovery Girl had noticed you right away and put all paper work aside to attend to you.
It took you a while to calm your breathing, but you were still afraid of losing your mind at any given moment. "Do you want me to call for Togata-san? He seemed to help you quite well yesterday." Oh crap! Before you could shake your head no, the nurse had already picked up the phone and called for Mirio. Your anxiety dropped but your panicking spiked, not really sure what excuse to give Mirio for ignoring him all day.
It didn't take him long to get to where you are and despite feeling a tad anxious about what he would say, you're more relief than anything. There it was again. Your heart ached at the sight of him but it wasn't unpleasant in any way. In fact, whatever you were feeling was so blissful you wished it would never disappear. You smiled nervously when he looks at you before avoiding eye contact. Dang it! The room was spinning, your blood rushed to your cheeks as he walked over to you and pressed a gentle yet firm hand on your shoulder. "Everything alright?" You nod your head vigorously, your hands gripping your knees tightly, the tips of your fingers white.
Mirio's sigh made you look up at him and quickly regretted it, he was grinning at you! Oh for fuck's sake! Why is he so radiant?! You swear you had to squint to look at him, it was practically blinding! You clear your throat as you turn your head to the side, too embarrassed to look him in the eye. "Well, that's a major relief. I ran all the way here thinking something bad had happened to you." Your face bloomed, it made you happy to know he cared so much about your well-being but you could feel your heart a bit at the thought of making him run all the way here for nothing. You pull your speak-for-me out. "Sorry for making you worry." Mirio quickly dismissed your apology as he assisted you off the chair, your heart picking up it's pace when he doesn't let go of your arm.
"Don't fret over it. You did me a huge favor. General Eds isn't really my forte."
You couldn't really help the small laugh from escaping your lips and you immediately smack your hand over your lips. "You making fun of me?" You wave both hands in the air frantically, shaking your head before typing in your device again. "No! I swear I wasn't!" You were about to give him an apology again but his boisterous laugh makes you stop. "I'm only kidding. Come on, school is almost over anyways." You exhale, relieved that he really wasn't angry with you as you bow deeply at Recovery Girl, who had been enjoying the little show between you two. She giggles before shooing you away as she takes a seat in her wheelie chair.
As you head back to class to pick up your stuff with Mirio, you suddenly remember that you have a presentation today and you freeze mid smile. Mirio quirks a brow at you from your sudden change in attitude. "Something up?" You began to sweat profusely. "I have a presentation to do but I haven't even created any useful gadgets to present." Mirio laughs at before grabbing your speak-for-me out your hands and typing quickly in it. "This device will definitely get you an A." You glare at him as you snatch your device back. "Don't do that." He looks at you curiously. "Do what?" You frown at him. "You have your voice. Don't use my device if it isn't necessary." Mirio honestly didn't think that it would upset you but he agreed nonetheless.
"Sorry. Just wanted to show you that you have something to present. I'm sure your instructor will love it." You were now staring down at your device, throughout the days, you had taken a bit of your time to paint beautiful designs of flowers and birds on it before coating it with a protective clear layer. You smile softly as you continued walking into class. "Thanks, Togata-san" He gives you a final grin as he waves to you while watching you go into class.
You definitely got an A and you were happier with the fact that no one asked why you never said a word yourself throughout the whole presentation. You couldn't wait to share your accomplishments with your parents. They will be more than happy as well due to the fact that they were sharing your pain. Maybe you could even tell them about your friends as well.
You fiddle with your device in your pocket as you walk merrily back home.
