2nd POV:
Your leg was shaking, you couldn't keep your hands still as you glared at your Speak-For-Me device, holding yourself back from throwing it across your class and hitting Hatsume square in the face. She was presenting yet another one of her babies with eagerness to the entire class, jumping from one place to another in excitement. You envied her unbridled confidence, something you couldn't help but question because her projects either ended very well or very badly. Failure was something you feared more than anything, it was unfortunately engraved into you and it was a difficult task to get over it. The best you could muster was to face your fears but even then, most of the time you ran from them instead.
Today wasn't one of those days, sadly.
"(L/n)-san? You ready?" No. "Yes sir." He motioned for you to go up to the front of the class and sent Hatsume back to her seat with yet another combusted machine of hers. You felt your whole body go rigid as you stood up and slowly approached the front where Power Loader waited for you. You tried as much as you could to not tremble as you stood beside him and stiffly smiled at your class. Their curious stares made it harder for you to keep your composure but you simply took in a deep breath as you held your gadget high enough for your whole class to see. Throughout your whole presentation, you gave detailed explanations on what you use to build it, how you built it, and how to use it, all while using the device itself to speak for you. Once you had finished, Power Loader spoke up, making you wish he hadn't because his question put you in a very awkward position. " Why did you make it?" You said nothing at first, afraid of what people would think before suddenly remembering the time when Mirio had first shown you how his quirk worked firsthand. His sudden nudity left you absolutely flabbergasted while everyone else laughed, but what had you even more astonished was the fact that Mirio laughed along with everyone as he yanked his pants back on.
Though the memory itself was strange, it allowed your face to relax and you smiled earnestly as you began typing away on your device, your cheeks warming. "So that everyone can continue having their own voice." You gave a slight bow to indicate the end of your presentation as you shuffled back to your seat, face hot and hands clammy. Your lips quivered at the applause you were receiving, allowing you a momentary of satisfaction as you smiled at your hands. Once the noise died down, Power Loader continued with class and you continued with trying to calm the erratic beating of your heart. The loud pulsing in your ears did not let you concentrate on anything anyone was saying for the rest of the class period.
It took much longer than anticipated to calm your trembling and your palpitations, you wished it had gone away completely by the time class had ended. That was not the case, you stood up, gathering all your things to stuff into your bag before throwing it over your shoulders and wobbly out of class. Just as you reach the door, Power Loader calls to you and you stop midstep to turn and look at him. "Continue the good work." You could barely see the gentle smile from underneath his excavator claw helmet but despite that, you felt an immense relief wash over you and you smiled back at him before turning the corner.
You were still somewhat trembling, although not as awful as earlier and you hugged yourself tightly to keep it under control. It was another habit you had thought you gotten rid of but it seems old habits die hard. You exhale heavily as you shuffled down the hall rather aimlessly, eyes focused on the ground before someone's ebullient caught your attention, and a familiar one at that. "SENPAI!!!" You cringe, your apparent embarrassment reaching all the way to your cheeks. "SENPAI!!! IT'S ME!! KIRISHIMA!!! YOUR KOHAI!!!!" Yeah, no shit Sherlock. You pinched the bridge of your nose as the redhead continued sprinting your way before stopping abruptly in front of, his shoes screeching underneath his weight.
You wanted to be annoyed at him but his doe eyes and exuberant personality only made you furrow your eyebrows and lean back at his proximity. Your cheeks still burning and your lips now pursed, you wait for him to continue his rowdy act but was met with a calmer one. "I figured you were part of the Support Department. Your device was too good not to be one." Upon remembering your earlier mishap with him had your elbow throb and you nervously look away, feeling incredibly uneasy. He continued blabbering about who knows what, beaming the entire time as he made exaggerating gestures with his hands as he continued talking. His excitement was starting to make you dizzy and you waved your arms in front of him to get him to stop. He did immediately and you sighed as you pulled out your device. "You're awfully excited. It's kind of dizzying." You laughed softly at his embarrassed expression, his smile never disappearing as he quickly followed after you when you began walking again.
"Uh, yeah, I guess my adrenaline is still pumping. My homeroom teacher is rather ruthless when it comes to exercise." You raise an eyebrow at him as he lets his shoulders droop from exhaustion. "Who's your homeroom teacher?" Your curiosity was starting to get the best of you as you give him a side glance as you await his response. "Aizawa-sensei." You trip over nothing in particular before quickly regaining your composure, clearing your throat as you did, and not making any eye contact with Kirishima. "Yup, that sure sounds like him." Confused by your sudden change in attitude, seeming more on edge as you continued to avoid looking at him. "Do you know him?" Your smile becomes tenser as you picked up your pace. "Who doesn't know him?" Kirishima nods his head, satisfied with your answer as he continued following you. "Yeah, true. Everyone I talk to seems to know who he is." You were about to relax but it seems as though Kirishima enjoyed pushing your buttons. "But it seemed as though you personally know him." He stared at you which only added to your cold sweat as you tried not to fall for those doe eyes of his, you didn't last very long.
"Well, he's my..........uncle."
It was eerily silent, his eyes never leaving yours as his mouth slowly dropped to its full hinge. "WHAT??!!!" You flinch away from him, his voice ear-splitting as he continues to gawk at you in disbelief. "Don't say anything alright. I don't want to get in his way." Snapping his mouth shut, at first hesitant, he nods his head. "O-Of course. I won't tell a soul." You smile at him and pinch his cheek, oblivious to how flustered you were making him as he grinned. "Thanks." The both of you were now outside of the building and quickly reaching the gate. You give him a quick wave as you try to go your own way only to be stopped before you could take a step forward. "Senpai, wait!" You do, turning to fully face him as he fumbles around his pockets before yelling a quick ah-hah and pulling out his phone. "Could we exchange numbers?" He seemed so giddy as he looked at you expectantly and you handed him your phone before you even realized it.
"Thank you!" He grinned at you once more before rushing off and leaving you quite confused.
