*Alex's POV*

I woke up to Laf gently shaking me. I, disorientated and still really tired, got up and went to the closet. I grabbed a sweater and sweatpants, going against the office's "considerably professional" rule. I really didn't care at this point. It wasn't until Lafayette grabbed me and hugged me that I realized who's house I was in, where I was, the time...oh no.

"Am I late for work?" I asked, running back to get on more professional clothes.

"Alex...you have like, an hour. I wanted to go get breakfast somewhere. Go get some better clothes on, I'll wait for you downstairs."

"Oh, okay!" I skipped back to the room, excited to go out to eat for the first time in a while.

*nobody's POV*

While Alexander went to go get changed, Lafayette got on GPS to find how to get to where he wanted to go eat. There was a bit of traffic due to a car crash, so he would need to hurry.

"Alex, we gotta get going, there's traffic," Lafayette called out, turning off all the lights and getting his shoes on.

"Okay, just a minute!" Alex yelled.

A few minutes later Alexander hopped down the hallway, putting on his socks and tie at the same time. Lafayette found this hilarious, and was still trying to find his breath when they were walking to the car.

"Laf, it's not even that funny," Alex pouted, cheeks dusted pink.

"You're so adorable," Lafayette said, kissing Alex's forehead and opening the passenger car door.

"Royalty first!" Lafayette said jokingly, letting Alexander in the car. After he made sure his boyfriend was accommodated, he got in the driver's seat and started the car, immediately turning on the heater since it was nearly freezing outside. They drove to the mystery place, singing along with the radio. They arrived, and Lafayette heard Alexander gasp.

*Lafayette's POV*

I turn to Alex, and his eyes are star struck. He looks around the small, serene cafe and wears a smile so bright a blind person would have been able to see it. We walk to the line, there's only a few people in front of us. As Alex is looking at the menu, I feel a tug on my sleeve. I look down and there's a young boy, tears running down his cheeks. He had to be nine, ten at most.

"What's the matter, buddy?" I ask sweetly, not wanting to scare him away if he needed help.

"Well, I was at the store last night, and my mom told me that if I waited in the toy aisle while she was shopping, she would come back and get me a toy...but she forgot me. The store guy t-told me that I had to leave, but once I walked outside everywhere else was closed. S-so I finally found this place and well...now I'm here..." He finished his story, looking down. He looked tired, and hungry. I was suspicious of his mother, no parent would do that to their child.

"Can you tell me what your mother looks like?" I asked, having an idea already.

"She has brown hair, blue eyes like me, and around her eyes are always red...and she wears dark shades of clothes, probably because she doesn't like talking to people that often."

"Did she ever hurt you in any way?"

"I mean, a few times...but it was nothing, only because I would walk in on her and whoever her boyfriend of the week was," he said, smiling slightly. I laughed, and Alex turned to me.

"Hey Laf, I know what I want...uh, who that?" He asked, motioning towards the young boy. I told him what the boy had told me so far.

"So...what's his name?"

"Uh...hey kiddo, what's your name? Sorry I didn't think to ask for it sooner."

"It's fine, my name is Ethan. What's your name?"

"My name is Lafayette, and this is my boyfriend Alex."

"Uh...I know this is sudden because I just walked in your life, but can you guys adopt me or something? My mom probably doesn't even miss me..." he muttered, tearing up a little.

"It would take some months for the process to be done, but I think it could be doable. We're very new into our relationship, so I'm not sure, but you can live with us for a while. We just need time, okay buddy?"

"Okay, thank you," he said happily. The cashier, tired-looking, coughed loudly.

"It's your turn. Order," the cashier said flatly. Rude much? We ordered our coffees and got Ethan a donut, getting in the car since it was almost 7:00.

"Where are we going?" Ethan asked while Alex buckles him in the backseat.

"We have to drop Alex off at work, then I need to get to work."

"Then where am I going?"

"Uh...," I whispered, not have expecting to be taking care of a child this morning. Merde.

"Alex, I can't bring him to work with me, I'm working on the cement foundations for the building...can you take him to work with you? I'm sure your Dad will understand," I smiled, seeing Alexander laugh a little.

"I can, but what about him?" I knew who he was talking about.

"Keep him away from Ethan. You don't even have to talk to him if you don't want to. But keep him away from Ethan as long as you feel is necessary."

"Who are you talking about?" Ethan inquired from the back seat.

"Someone from work, Ethan. Unless I say to, don't talk to him. He has a big, poofy afro. He's dark-skinned, just like you. And he dresses in very bright colors. You'll know who it is."

"Okay." Ethan responded, rolling down the window and singing as best as he could to the radio.
