The reaping is 3 hours. I finish training and walk back home with Joanne. I take a shower and brush threw my hair. My thick dark brown silky hair felt so good after the shower and after I brushed it. I get dressed into my reaping dress. The one my older sister Kate wore when she went into the games. She made it to the final two, but when her ally from district one killed her, he won. I will never forget Kate. She was always there to stand up to Olivia. I miss her a lot. When I look in the mirror I see me as Kate. Kate, Willow and I all look alike. The only thing is I had more freckles than Kate and Willow is 3 years younger than me. My dad and Kate looked a lot like each other. They had the same smile. They even had the same nose. We all had my mom's eyes. The beautiful grey eyes. I shed a few tears looking at some pictures of me and Kate on my dresser. Kate always did my makeup. Once she died, mom allowed me to have it. I am pretty good at it but not as good as Kate. Kate was basically like Cato. Every boy in her grade was dying to date her. I hear a knock at my bedroom door.

"Come in," I say while whipping away the tears from my face. Willow came in.

"Clove?" She asked.

"Yeah?"

"Do you think, I'll get chosen?" Willow asked.

"Your name has only been in their once. They're not going to pick you." I said.

Even though it's possible. There have been 12-year-olds picked before but usually,18-year-olds are fighting over who volunteers.

There was a knock at the door.

"One second let me go get that," I say pulling Willow away from the hug.

I open the door and I'm shocked to see who's there. Cato. The blond boy who hangs with Olivia. What does he want?

"Hey," He said.

"Hi, can I help you?" I asked.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

I nodded and he stepped inside.

"Do you need anything?" I asked.

"Can we be friends?" He asked.

Why would he want to be friends? Usually, no one wants to mess with me.

"Sure, this isn't one of Olivia's sick jokes right?" I asked.

"No, I hate Olivia. I unfriended all of them before I came to your house. I told them I wanted to be friends with you." He said.

"Okay, thank you, I guess," I said

"No problem, want to hang out?" He asked.

"Sure, Willow I'll be back in an hour, lock the door and be safe," I said.

Cato and I ran off to the market. He bought me a necklace.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked.

"Because we're friends and Olivia treated you wrong so we're going to do the same thing to her." He said.

I laughed. I feel like Cato actually understands me. He walks me back home. I open the door to see Willow and my mother home. 'Time for some lecturing' I thought.

"Where were you Clove?" My mother screamed.

"I was hanging out with my friend, don't freak out," I yelled.

"Who is this boy?" She screamed.

"My friend! He's just a friend I promise!" I yelled.

"You are not to leave Willow alone ever! You're grounded until the reaping! Now go!" She yelled at me.

I go upstairs to my room and grab some knives on my dresser. I throw them across the room to the targets I drew on the wall. They land dead center. It helps me calm down.
