She came here with me.

Chapter 26

Cato gets me up early. We both have these rabbit legs for breakfast. Today is the feast. I'm sure at least they want to get someone killed today. People in the Capitol are getting bored so of course they are trying to get one of two of us dead today. 

Cato and I head down to the cornucopia. We are in the tree lines. I see the bags. I think everyone is debating on when to go. I give Cato a kiss until we'll see each other again. We see Foxface run out of the cornucopia and Cato goes after her. I see fire girl and I know this is my chance. I sprint over to the cornucopia and when she grabs her bag and tries to run off that's when I throw my knife. It slices the side of her face which causes it to bleed but not enough to be a kill. She shoots her arrow at my heart but I dodge it. I run up to her and wrestle her to the ground. I land on top of her, I try to stab my knife in her face but she keeps dodging it and pushing me off of her. I get at the right moment and pin her down with my knees. She works up spit that has a bit of blood in it and spits it in my face. I wipe it off and hold a knife to her neck. 

"Where's lover boy?" I snarl at her. 

"He's out there hunting Cato," she snarls at me. Then she screams at the top of her lungs "Peeta!" 

Katniss can heal someone so I jam my fist into her windpipe. Look around. There is no sign of Peeta at all which makes me worried that he found Cato but Cato is so much stronger than Peeta so I wouldn't think he would stand a chance against Cato. I look back at Katniss with a grin on my face knowing Peeta isn't around. 

"Liar," I say grinning "He's nearly dead, Cato knows where he cut him, you've probably got him strapped up in some tree trying to keep his little heart going. What's in that pretty little backpack? The medicine for loverboy? Aww that's too bad that he'll never get it." I spit at her. 

I open up my jacket and it has all my knives and I select the most pointy one. A perfect one to crave. 

"You know I promised Cato if he let me have you I'd give the audience a good show." I laugh at her. I see the worried look on her face. "Forget it Twelve we're going to kill you, just like we did with your little ally, what was her name again? Rue? Well first Rue, then you and I think we'll just let nature take care of lover boy? " I grin at her, "Now where to start?" I ask.

I look around her face on where to start. "I think," I say still giving her a creepy smile that should terrify her. "I think we'll start with your mouth. I smile at her, "Yes, I don't think you'll have much use for your lips anymore. Wanna blow loverboy one last kiss?" She spits in my face again. I wipe it off even more angry this time. "All right then, lets get started." I take my knife to her mouth and get ready to crave but then a strong force has lifted me up off the ground. It can't be Peeta right? He is way to injured right? No it isn't Peeta it's Thresh! He's holding me like a rag doll above Katniss, I can barley breathe. He flips me over on the ground. Where is Cato? 

"What did you do with that little girl?" Thresh yells at me. 

I start scrambling on all fours. "No no it wasn't me!" I yell back at him.

" You said her name, I heard you! You kill her?" He yells back, "You cut her up like you were going to with this girl?"

"No! No, I-" I see the stone in Thresh's hand I start to lose it.

"Cato! Cato!" I shout at the top of my lungs.

"Clove!" I hear a yell but I can tell that it's to far away. He'll never reach me in time. My entire life flashes before my eyes. 

Thresh is about to bring the rock down but he falls to the ground. Cato and him are fighting. That was really close. I just start to catch my breath after he held me like a rag doll. I see that the fight is getting bloody. But then I hear a cannon. I look over and Thresh is on the ground dead. 

Cato runs up to me and hugs me, "Are you okay?" He asks me.

I just nod still in shock of what happened. I know for the rest of the games I will not be leaving Cato's side. I look behind Cato and Katniss is ready to shoot him with her bow.  A bunch of adrenaline comes to me and I grab my knife and stab her. I'm sure the people in the Capitol are so happy with the show that they just got. But I almost got killed. I am done with these games. Katniss falls to the ground and I get a bunch of regret in my system. Am I just a killing machine? I hold in the tears. Her cannon fires. It's now Foxface, Peeta, Cato and I. I'm sure nature will take Peeta soon. But what about Foxface? The dangerous thing about her is that she is so smart. Cato and I go over to the pond that we were once at. I kiss him for about 5 minutes. I almost lost my life. I am so thankful that Cato showed up to save me. Willow's life would be hell if I died. 

"Are you okay Clove?" Cato asks worried. 

"Yeah, it's just I almost lost my life." I said still in so much shock and I'm still scared of what else can happen. It's the final four. I have so much regret in me right now. For all the tributes I killed, they had families, friends, boyfriends or girlfriends, they had feelings." I say breaking down.

Cato puts me in his arms and I don't want him to let go. I don't think I'll get any sleep tonight. I had just escaped death. 

"Cato?" I ask.

"Yes Clove?" Cato replies.

"I don't want to leave your side for the rest of the games or ever." I say. That incident had just scarred me for probably the rest of my life.

He hugs me and says, "Clove, I'll never leave you." And just like that I felt a sense of security. I now I am safe right now but I am scared. 

Cato and I don't sleep at all that night. I was to scared to go to sleep. These games scars you. They kill innocent children. It wasn't me who rebelled it was our grandparents. They have to stop killing innocent children that did nothing. I know careers aren't supposed to feel scared or not in power but that's what I feel. I feel sorry for the kids that I have killed. But I can't show them in the games or in the Capitol. Back home I can show it but not here.
