Tomorrow Molly is going to pay me for my first week working here. Tomorrow I can finally clean the two outfits Tobias and I have been wearing all week and maybe even find somewhere to sleep that doesn't have wheels.
Molly is amazing, I had no idea she is only nineteen, and yet she's accomplished so much. She's funny and kind, she's been great with Tobias. Thanks to her Tobias is getting three meals a day which I probably couldn't afford right now. She even trusted me alone in the bakery this morning because she had something with her friends.
The only problem I have is Tobias is running low on medication, but I'm scared if I go to the pharmacy for more they'll pull up his information and Charles will find us. I'm sure I'll figure it out, I can't let him be in pain for something that wasn't his fault. My ribs are still hurting and the stitches in my forehead are itching. I told Molly we got into an accident and she hasn't asked anymore questions.
I finish making the chai latte and put the lid on the to go cup before handing it to the customer. I watch as she leaves and I smile at Tobias who's playing with his dinosaur on one of the couches. That's when I hear it. I would know that rumble anywhere, I was once part of that rolling thunder. I silently pray they will just pass but then I hear them slow and stop
"Tobias, why don't you go in the back and see if you can find some chocolate chip cookies." I smile calmly
"Ok Mommy." He replies as he jumps up and runs into the back. I know all the equipment back there is off after Molly finished making the pastries this morning so he's safe there.
"Hey Sarah.."
"You're wearing a property cut." I interrupt, I didn't know she was part of the club, I walked right into the lions den
"Yeah, why?" She looks at me confused but then Needles steps up behind her
"Oh shit." He groans
"Hey what's the hold up? I want my free cake." I hear a voice call from outside. Molly and Needles move aside, Needles not taking his eyes off me and then the whole club fill the room
"Holy fuck!" Cordelia gasps. Everyone freezes in the doorway as they stare at me, the whole club is here, nevermind running into just one of them. There are several women I don't recognise, they must be old ladies from after I left, but the men all know who I am.
"Sarah, you're ok." Indigo says crossing the space between us and coming around the counter to pull me into a hug
"We thought you'd been kidnapped." Indigo sighs into my hair. What does she mean kidnapped? I go to ask but his voice stops me
"What the fuck is she doing here?" I turn and am met with those eyes. The eyes I see in my dreams, filled with love and care, only now they burn with anger and pain
"What's going on? This is Sarah, the girl I hired to help me out." Molly says as she walks towards me, Indigo finally releasing me
"I... I..." I don't know what to say, I want to say sorry for leaving, sorry for coming back, sorry for taking a job at a club business, but I know sorry isn't enough.
"What happened?" Cordelia asks pointing to her own forehead
"I got in an accident." I reply quickly, it's become routine to cover for cuts and bruises.
"Some one tell me what's going on." Molly says looking between me and the club I once called family.
"If I had known you were part of the club I would never have taken the job, I'm sorry, I'll leave." I sigh as I untie the apron around my waist
"Wait, what? Why?" Molly just seems more confused
"Sarah is BFG's ex." Needles explains
"The one that...?" Needles nods
"Oh." Molly looks at the floor
"I'm sorry." I say as I place my apron on the counter and turn to leave out the back
"Wait. B I didn't know she was your ex when I hired her or I would've talked to you first but she's the only one who applied for the job and I need the help." Molly still wants me here? I don't know if I can stay now anyway.
"Whatever." Derek shrugs as he looks at me and then leaves.
"Mommy?" I turn and see Tobias behind me
"It's ok little one." I say as I hold my hand out for him to take. I look back up and whole club is just staring at me. I hear Dereks motorcycle start and then speed off
"You come here for help?" Killer asks, the President was always to the point.
"No. I didn't know Molly was an old lady." I reply
"Then why are you here? One million dollars is looking pretty good right now." Killer smirks, what is he talking about?
"Not in front of the kid." Cordelia whispers to her husband, I was maid of honour at their wedding and yet they seem like strangers to me now.
"Tobias, wanna help me test some frosting?" Molly smiles as she walks around the counter and takes Tobias' hand from mine
"What really happened to your head?" Cordelia asks as soon as Tobias is out of sight
"I told you I got into an accident." I smile
"That how his arm got broken too?" She asks and I nod
"You know your husband has reported you missing? There's a million dollar reward out for your safe return." Scarlett says, I didn't get to know her much before I left. I have to fight to keep my jaw from slacking, of course Charles is playing the victim
"I'll ask again, did you come here for help?" Killer growls
"No, I didn't know where I was going, I just kept driving and ended up here, I've been avoiding you guys all week because I didn't want you to think that." I explain
"Well let me take a look at that." Cordelia says as she approaches, she never could switch off nurse mode as she called it
"Have you been keeping it clean? It looks infected." If by clean you mean I haven't bathed since I left Boston then yes.
"Ouch." I wince when she pokes the wound
"That's for leaving without saying goodbye." She smirks
"Are we really going to help her after everything?" Izzy asks, she wasn't my biggest fan because I kept putting off getting a property tattoo and wearing a property cut, she thinks it was because I'm stuck up, but it was because I was scared.
"Everyone fucks up Iz." Cordelia replies still examining my forehead
"You need antibiotics, come by the clinic and I'll give you a course." She says stepping back
"How's the kid?" She asks motioning to the back
"Fractured ulna." I sigh
"You got enough pain meds for him? I'm sure I have some at the clinic, if not I can get some in a day or two." Cordelia always was amazing
"Thank you." I smile
"Do I get my free cake now or what?" A girl with blue hair asks as she pushes her wheelchair forward.
