Chapter 1
Diane's P.O.V
"C'mon Molly. You'll learn to love Forks." I said to my 15 year old daughter as she sulked in the passenger seat, her hood up to block me out as rain ran down on the car windows.

"I loved Florida." She shot back as she sat up straight. I cringed and adjusted my hands on the wheel.

"I loved my school, I loved my friends, I loved our house." Molly said in a rant as she stared at me in anger her eyes filled with angry tears.

"Molly," I sighed glancing at her before looking back at the road, the 'Welcome to Forks' sign flashing past. "I know this is hard but, you'll make new friends and you'll love the new house, it's two stories." I said with a hopeful smile. I pulled into the street of our new house the rain having let up. Our house's furniture was already all inside, the movers having been there the day before. I pulled up in front of the pretty cream coloured two story house we'd now call home. I turned off the ignition as I spotted a group of people standing by an orange truck at the house across the road.

"C'mon Molls." I said softly as I opened my door and stepped out of the car. Molly didn't move from her seat. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Molly." I warned sternly. "Get out of the car, there are people watching." I said lowly as I noticed the group across the road had stopped talking and looked our way. She turned and gave me a death glare.

"I don't care." She said harshly as she reached over the drivers seat. "I wanna live with dad!" She said loudly as she gripped the handle of the drivers door and yanked it shut. I pulled my hands out of the way of the slamming door just in time. I sighed pushing down the tears that suddenly threatened to fall as I rubbed my forehead with my finger and thumb, my keys hanging from my middle finger by the keyring. I took a deep breath and let it slowly as I turned to give a smile and awkward wave to our viewer's.

"Kids." The man in a police uniform said. He was standing with a brunette girl, a boy with long hair and a man in a wheelchair. I smiled embarrassed at the whole fiasco. I nodded and slowly made my way across the empty street. No time like the present to make new connections.

"Yes, mine's rather stubborn." I said smiling as I came to a stop in front of them. The man in the wheelchair chuckled.

"I've seen worse." He said as he pretended to subtly gesture to the long haired boy, I presumed was his son. The boy rolled his eyes looking a little embarrassed. I smiled relaxing.

"I'm Diane Burkhardt, that's my fifteen year old daughter, Molly." I said with a shrug of my eyebrows as I gestured with my thumb over my shoulder at where Molly still sat sulking in the car.

"Billy Black, this heres my son Jacob." The man in the chair said smiling as we shook hands. I looked at the officer and the girl.

"Charlie Swan, and my daughter Bella." He said as we shook hands and Bella smiled at me, which I returned.

"What brings you all the way to Forks?" Billy asked. I smiled softly the memories of my divorce and the new job offer here spring to the front of my mind.

"A job offer. I'll be teaching English at Forks highschool." I said with a brighter smile. Charlie smiled at me.

"That's where Bella starts up tomorrow. She just moved to stay here with me." He said as he put a hand on her shoulder. I smiled at Bella.

"I guess I'll see you there then." I said to which she nodded. She seemed a little reserved. I smiled and gave a small wave to them all as I made my way back across the road.

"Good luck." Billy called out to me, I turned and smiled and waved again.

"Thanks I'll need it." I said before turning back around. I decided to unlock the house and get to unpacking the essentials. Molly can sleep in the car if she's that bloody dedicated. At least the people here seem really nice.
