Introduction
Genesis
I'm not ugly, I know that, but I'm not pretty either. If you were to ask people what they considered of me, their answer would be, Forgettable. I don't stand out, not like my younger sister does.

Marylnn is always the focus of everyone's attention, she won beauty pageants even as a child. She always had a large group of friends, and boys falling at her feet. She has everything and she make it look effortless, basking in the spotlight with humility and kindness.

I, on the other hand never have the spotlight. I'm not overly academic, and I hate sports, the only thing I can do well is play piano and sing, but I have major stage fright, so no one gets to see that. I've always lived in my sisters shadow, which wouldn't be as bad if she weren't my younger sister.

I'm lucky I'm not the only misfit in my family though. Our older brother Shaun is the odd one out in the family, the black sheep. He walks the grey area of the law most of the time, often getting himself into trouble and getting lectures from mum. I don't feel as bad when my brother's home, but with all the shit he pulls, he's barely ever home.

That is until recently when mum dropped the bomb shell that we were moving. We were going to head North from our home in Montesano to a small town near Port Angeles. We'd been to Port Angeles once before but never the tiny wet town Forks. I don't particularly care where we live considering my lack of social connections, but I did ask why, only to receive a half assed answer of "cheaper real estate", it isn't the truth and I know that, but I don't care enough to seek it out.

Genesis' P.O.V
Changes by David Bowie was ironically playing through my black headphones as I watched the lazy rain run down the window of the backseat. In front of me in the passengers seat, Mary was happily chatting away with our mum as she drove, meanwhile beside me Shaun was passed out napping against the cold window, snoring gently, one arm awkwardly pinned between his shoulder and the seatbelt, hanging there limply.

I rolled my eyes at him good naturedly before staring back out the window as we stopped at the only set of lights I'd seen in Forks. Shaun wasn't kidding, Forks is tiny. I thought as I scrunched my nose up.

A tap on my shoulder made me jump as I jerked my head to see Marylnn hanging around the side of her seat, smiling at me as she pointed at her ears. I slid my headphones down around my neck as I stared at her.

"What?" I questioned blankly. My usual attitude didn't phase her and her smile somehow got bigger.

"This is our street!" She said excitedly as she quickly looked to Shaun. She poked him and he didn't moved. She furrowed her brows as I covered my snicker with my hand. She lightly slapped his cheek and he jerked upright, arm still pinned.

"Huh, wah?!" He exclaimed, momentarily disorientated as I laughed at him. He poked his tongue out at me as he pulled his arm out from its awkward position and the car began to slow.

"Guys. We're here!" Mum chimed as she turned to face us all with a smile. Mary had gotten all of mums good looks. It was a commen inconvenience to have kids at my school tell me my mum was hot enough to bang, in fact it was more a, horrific slur, I didn't need to hear.

"It's kinda ugly." Shaun said as he looked out the window. Mum glared at him through the rearview before opening her door and ducking quickly into the rain, slamming it shut behind her. We'd moved a handful of times, three to be exact, this being the fourth, and we'd always had movilists do all the work, this time, we weren't so lucky. I sighed as I pulled up my black hood to protect the headphones around my neck, before I grabbed my back-pack and exited the car into the rain.

I ran from the car to the two story house we'd now call home. It was a gaudy orange and as old as time. The paint was peeling, the door no longer coloured but now a scratched, probably moldy, brown. Shaun's right, it is ugly.

Shaun and Mary joined me on the leaking porch as mum unlocked and opened the front door. We all shuffled inside and I crinkled my nose at the smell of mold and old people. Despite the smell and the dust, the house wasn't full of cobwebs and bugs, so I counted that as a win.

"This place is a fucking dump." Shaun said as he walked further in to look at the open rooms on either side of the front entry. To the left I assumed would be the living room and to the right was an old fashioned kitchen and space for a dinning room table.

"Shaun! Watch your language! It may be old, but it's ours." Mum stated proudly as she put her hands on her hips and faced us all. We stood in shocked silence for a moment before Mary squealed.

"That's amazing! We can do whatever we want with it. We'll get some nice wallpaper and a long rug for the entrance-" Mary and mum walked on into the kitchen as they continued to chat excitedly. I sighed as I looked to Shaun who just shrugged before taking the stairs, oppisite the front door, two at a time, disappearing into the top floor.

We'd always rented, never having the money to buy. Why now? How?

I shook my head to clear it and wandered up the stairs. A small wooden fence lined the staircase at the top so you couldn't fall down the hole, though some of the posts were missing. The second story was wrapped around in a sort of horse shoe way, staircase at the center, a large bathroom met me at the head of the stairs and two rooms on either side took up the rest of the space. I noticed the only opened bedroom door to my left and I peaked in, receiving a wave from Shaun as he sat on the dusty floor on his phone. I shook my head with a smile as I walked to the one next to his and pushed the door open.

It creaked on it hinges and I cringed. A musty smell hit me and I quickly walked to the two windows in the room. One faced the front of the house and the other the side. I opened them all the way and was greatful the rain wasn't coming in either direction. I turned back to the empty room as the rain outside began to ease.

There was a shout from downstairs,
"Quick, the rains stopped, we'll bring in our mattresses!" Mum yelled as I dumped my bag on the ground and placed my headphones on top to avoid them sullying. I ducked out of my room to jog down the stairs after my brother. This is gonna be a long afternoon.

We got our mattresses and a couple boxes for the kitchen in before the rain started up again and we had to close the trailer back up. We'd brought as much as we could fit in a double trailer, the rest was to be dropped off by my uncle in a movers truck tomorrow.

I sighed and sat down on my mattress. I grabbed my headphones and put them on before laying down and staring at the ceiling for a couple seconds.

"Hey Gen! Mum got pizza for dinner." Shaun said as he popped his head into my room. I glanced at him as I rose my head off my pillow.

"I'm not hungry, tell mum I'm going to bed." I answered as I rested my head back down. Shaun smiled softly and nodded as he switched off the light for me and shut my door. I smiled at the closed door in thanks for the small gesture, before picking up my phone and selecting Bed of Lies by Nicki Minaj. I closed my eyes as I waited for my minds chaos to settle, and to fall asleep.
