March 2020

I excitedly weaved through the crowds of people in Cardiff station, suitcase wheeling behind me. I looked around a bit at all the busy people around me. It was weird to think that in a month they would all know who I was, where I came from, my family, everything.

A taxi was waiting for me outside and I climbed in. 'Where to then, Y/N?' Terry asked me. 'The Exchange Hotel please Terry.' He switched the engine on.

Terry was my brilliant driver. I had only known home since I got the part and had only ridden with him once or twice. But he was always there to take you wherever you wanted.

'So, what's your character like eh?' he chuckled. 'Terry, you know I can't tell you yet! You'll find out soon enough.' He laughed again and turned again.

I leaned back in my seat. Chris had contacted us all and told us to meet him at the Exchange today so we could introduce each other in person. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shake my nerves away. What if they hated me? Argh.

Quicker than I expected, we arrived outside the fancy building. If Chris was planning on keeping it simple, he wasn't doing it very well. I waved goodbye to Terry and headed to the large double doors.

I started to shake as I asked at the counter. The lady smiled. 'Third floor, room 221, love. Have fun.' She winked at me and I nodded a thanks. She must know.

I glanced at my watch and began to leg it up the stairs. I was gonna be pretty late now. I rammed on the deep oak door with gold lettering and took a deep breath.

A lady I recognised from Broadchurch answered. But now she had a blonde bob brushing her chin. Wow, she was quite something. I couldn't quite place a finger on her name though.

She grinned.

'Hi! You must be Y/N! Chris has just been telling us about you!' She opened the door wide enough for me to enter and gestured for me to follow her.

Three people looked up from their scripts and smiled. I just sort of waved and leant onto my suitcase. God, I was so nervous.

Chris stood up and shook my hand. 'Y/N! Great to see you again. As you might know, this is Mandip.' He pointed to a woman with sleek dark brown skin and hair and a bright smile.

'Brad.'

An older man with a cheeky face waved at me and I returned it nervously.

'And Jodie.'

That was it! Jodie.

She gave me another wide grin and took my suitcase. 'Oh, er, thanks.' I mumbled.

Chris let me settle in a bit and unpack before having a run through of the first scene. My character, Robyn, tried calling her friends' number for help, but in fear, accidentally calls the TARDIS. Of course, they immediately come and rescue me just in time.

The best bits of this scene I looked forward too was seeing the inside of the TARDIS. Watching Doctor Who so many times, I should be used to it. But acting as a companion who is mesmerised by the 'bigger on the inside' factor I wouldn't need to act at all.

After the short run-through Chris left me, Jodie, Brad and Mandip to do a round of ice-breakers. I was kinda nervous that they were gonna ask me a load of questions, since they probably knew each other inside out.

'So, where're we all from?' asked Mandip. I knew she was doing it for me because I knew they knew where they each lived.

She went first. 'Leeds.'

'Essex.' said Brad.

'Huddersfield.' said Jodie.

'W/Y/F.' I muttered quietly.

Everyone nodded apart from me. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I felt something weird in my stomach and I held it tightly. I felt someone's hand on my knee and Jodie's soft voice. My heart beat so fast.

'Everything okay Y/N?' she asked. I nodded and started to stand up. My head felt really heavy and my vision began to blur. 'I...I just need to.....I......' I felt my front crash onto the floor and silence.

'Y/N?'

I sat up abruptly and realised I was in a bed covered with crisp sheets. 'Just relax Y/N.' said a male voice from my left. For a moment I forgot where I was and then the short-lived memories flooded back.

I turned to the voice and Brad looked back at me. 'You just collapsed. I've been put on Y/N duty whilst Chris and the ladies chill next door. You okay?'

I held my stomach. It wasn't churning anymore, thank goodness. I adjusted my position and sighed. 'Yeah.'

I pulled back the covers and climbed out. I dusted myself off as I entered the other room, soon followed by Brad. They looked up and smiled. 'Y/N! How are you?' asked Jodie.

'Fine yeah. Just bit nervous. It's all so overwhelming.'

She invited me to sit down and chuckled. 'Y/N, you should've seen me when I first started! I was such a wreck I thought that I'd be chucked out! But everyone was so kind and I soon felt right at home.'

I nodded. I'd be fine. The one thing was, I really liked Jodie. A lot. It's one thing having a crush on a celebrity, but working closely with that celebrity is something entirely different.
