Leo's pov

Alex hasn't moved since I finished bandaging her up. The only indecation that she is actually alive is the slow, small rises of her chest, but they aren't in a rythem, like they're supposed to be.

  That worries me.

I glance out the cave when a strong, cold gust of wind makes Alex's hair dance. Snow falls.

  Where are they?

I put my hand on Alex's and realize just how cold she is. I can't risk a fire though...

Well, I only have two choices. Let Alex freeze to death and hopefully not get found by enemies, or light a small fire and hope no one other than my friends find us.

I light the fire in one of my palms. My other hand pushes her hair out of her face. I look at the grey streak there. Why did she have to do that? Why did she ever deserve a fate so cruel?

I lean against the cold stone, holding a flaame with one hand and playing with Alex's hair with the other.

I had just gotten back from the police station, who were questioning me.
The woman who brought me to the apartment had gone somewhere, telling me to pack my things.
Instead I went down to the picnic table as memories of last night flitter into my head. Soon, a tear rolls down my cheek. Then another. And another. And soon I am sobbing quietly, my head buried into my arms.
"Leo? What's wrong?" I hear Alex ask me, setting a hand on my shoulder.
I look up at her and see worry fill her expression. She pulls me into a hug. I gratefully return it, tears still running away from me.
  "What happened?"
I couldn't tell her about the woman... "It got out of control... the workshop's gone..."
"Where's your mom?" She asks me worriedly, pulling back to look at me. More tears fall down my cheeks.
"No..." A tear falls onto her cheek as she pulls me back into another hug, but this one more comforting than the last. I remember how much my mom loved Alex, like a daughter.
"Shouldn't you be packing?" The woman asks behind me.
  "Packing?" Alex askes.
"They're sending me to a foster home..."
  "Oh that's terrible!"
I nod my head in agreement.
"Come on Leo. Go pack, say goodbye to your... friend."
I glance at the woman who's tapping her heel on the sidewalk impatiently.
"I'm gonna miss you Leo." Alex says quietly.
"I'm sure we'll see each other again some day..."
I see conflict behind her sea green eyes. "Well... until
then..." She kisses my cheek, then steps back. "Bye Leo..." She whispers, tears falling down her cheeks. She turns and runs.
"Alex!" I call out, but she only glances back.
  My hand touches my cheek.
"Leo!" The woman barks. "Go pack and forget about her." She points to the apartments.
I walk there slowly, still thinking what had happened. I pass her apartment and I hear sobbing. I feel my heart crack. I want nothing more than to go in there and crack a joke to make her smile, but I can't. Not with this woman behind me.
I walk into my apartment, Alex's sobs echoing in my ears.

I blink, shaking my head to try and rid the memory. I hated that day with all my heart and more. I never forgot about my first friend. And my first crush as well.

I hear footsteps. I close my hand, putting out the flames. I draw a hammer and slowly move to the enterance, ready for anything.

What I wasn't ready for was Emily to fall to the ground, clutching her bloody side.

A/N There! Another chapter! Don't worry, the mortals haven't gotten me yet, but I should probably start moving again! Byezzz!
