Chapter 3 - Rest, My Darling
Autumn's P.O.V.
PICTURE OF ANNALISE ON THE SIDE
The next morning I woke up with puffy eyes. I noticed one thing wrong...I was in my PJ's...I could of sworn that I drifted to sleep last night still in my party dress. I looked around my room and saw my dress on my bed, next to me. I was confused, how the hell did that happen? I looked over at my alarm and saw it was 12:00pm. Next to my alarm I saw was a nicely folded note. I sat up on my bed, my back against the headboard. I reached over to the note and froze.
It read:
To: Autumn
I slowly opened the note and began reading.
Dear Autumn,
First of all, I'm sorry you had a terrible night last night. Also, after you ran into your bedroom, Lani and Luca tried to chase after you, but I held them back. I understood you were having a terrible night, so I thought you wanted to be alone. Autumn, I also want you to know that even though you are my mate, I want you to take your time and think about it. Your Beta told me how you never wanted a mate, but hopefully you'll give me a chance to earn your trust and even maybe your heart. Also, if you're wondering how you got out of your dress, I kind of...um...I was the one who changed you into your PJ's...don't worry though, I kept my eyes on your face the whole time, so my eyes weren't wondering anywhere they shouldn't be. By the way, you look beautiful when your asleep.
Love,
Alexander A.K.A Alex
P.S. Don't keep me waiting babe.
I re-read the note over and over, each time my cheeks would flame up. I got out of bed and did my morning routine, well, in this case would be my afternoon routine. I was wearing black skinny jeans, a white tank top, a light gray denim jacket, and white high top nike's. I'm not really the girly-girl type, nor am I a tomboy, so I'm basically in between.
I was about to just leave the house, but instead, I found myself moving towards the game room, where Lani and Luca probably were. I opened the door a little bit, like I said, there they were. Lani and Luca were playing Need For Speed, I saw a guard sitting on the couch a few feet away, watching them with amusement in his eyes. I opened the door all the way, causing all of them to look up at the doorway. Luca paused the game, while the guard quickly stood up.
"Alpha Autumn," he said while bowing his head.
"Please, John, stop. No need," I said. He looked at me and smiled.
"Can I have a moment with my brother and sister?" I asked. He quickly nodded and stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Lani and Luca were looking anywhere but in my direction. Their eyes landed on the floor in-front of them after a while of looking around.
I walked over to the couch and sat down. I let out a big sigh. "Lani, Luca...I'm so sorry for ruining your birthday..." I said softly. I put my head in my hands. I could feel their eyes on me but I didn't dare to look up, I couldn't meet their eyes. I knew what would be filled in them anyways, wonder. Wonder of where their mother was...wonder where their father had disappeared for all these years...wonder about what really was going on.
