Chapter 4 - Wake Up Baby, Please...
Autumn's Dad P.O.V.
"Hold on baby girl," I whispered. I hoped she could hold on and wait until we brought her up to one of the guest rooms. I couldn't lose her. No. I've already lost enough people I love in my life. I couldn't lose Autumn. Not when I finally got her to accept me back into our family. I prayed. I prayed to the high heavens that she'll wake back up. Please. Please let her survive.
~~Alex's P.O.V.~~
Three weeks. It's been three weeks since Autumn passed out by healing the three men at the same time. If she was awake, all I would of done is hug her death, instead of being angry at her for making that stupid move. It's been three weeks since I've...well...nothing I guess, we haven't kissed, hugged...or anything else. The only people who knew me and Autumn were mates were her father, my parents, Annalise, Johnathan, Max, the pack doctor, the nurses, Autumn's fighters, Autumn's Beta, Luca, and Lani. Speaking of Luca and Lani, when they found out, boy did they cause a whole bunch of trouble...first, they cried, which was very painful to see by the way, then they tried to cross the body guards that were guarding the door where Autumn was in with the pack doctor doing everything he can to wake her up, they tried EVERYTHING, when I mean everything, I mean by shifting, yelling, commanding, crying, etc. When the three men woke up, they asked what happened, so my dad lied, he wanted to keep a secret that Autumn has powers. He said that they brought them back and the pack doctor was able to save them just in time.
For the past two weeks, all I've ever done was sit by Autumn's side and hold her cold hand, watching her sleep and listen to the steady beat of her heart. My dad let her use the guest bedroom, which was on the same floor as my bedroom. I ate in that room, showered in the bathroom in that room, go to sleep in that room, next to her of course. When the third week passed, my sister was able to get my ass out that room and go to school. Of course, Max, was able to notice my blank trace, he tried to get me back into the mood, but of course, nothing worked, the only thing that could make me happy was for my mate to wake up and be safe in my arms. My sister ended up telling him everything from the beginning to the end, Max wasn't angry that I didn't tell him anything about Autumn being my mate or anything, he just tried hard to get me back to my normal self. My sister ended up staying home, with John, for a little while more, instead of going back to college, of course her professors would send her all the homework and notes and all that crap for her to do while she was here. The Dean of the college she is going to was a werewolf so he understood when my father told him that I was going through a hard time and that she needed to be here for me and she couldn't be separated from her mate.
I was currently sitting in the same seat I've been sitting on for the past three weeks, watching my mate. Her face was pale, her lips were no longer full of color, and her body was cold. I was just listening to her heart beat steadily. The next thing made my face go pale. Her heart suddenly went slower and slower...until there was no longer a heart beat. I bolted out of my seat and thundered down the stairs. Everyone was quiet, watching me. My father, mother, Lani, Luca, Max, Autumn's father, Autumn's Beta, Annalise, John, and the pack doctor all stood up.
"Bro, what's wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost," said my sister.
"Autumn...her heart beat...it's gone.." I said. Everyone's eyes went wide.
"WHAT?!?!?!" they shouted. They all ran up the stairs, towards the guest bedroom. I was hot on their heels. As I made my way pass them, I heard them gasp. I sat down on the bed and held my mate's hand. This couldn't be happening. She couldn't be gone from me. Tears fell down my cheeks as I stared at my mate. I looked over the group and saw silent tears rolling down their cheeks as well. Lani and Luca bolted for Autumn's other hand. They held it tightly.
