I groan. "Okay, I hate to say this, but I'm hangry."

"So am I," Rowan agrees. "We could try to find a Fae city and get food."

"What kind of food do you guys eat?" I ask curiously.

His face gains a disconcerted look. "Wait, you can't eat it."

"Why?" I'm confused.

"Do you want to cannibalism?"

"Gross!" I make a face. "You actually eat humans?"

So that lady we met at the beginning wasn't fucking around at all.

"No, I was kidding," Rowan laughs.

Okay, so maybe she wasn't?

"Thank god," I whisper. "You almost had me traumatized."

"We have like normal human food, but it's just... better."

Normal... human  food?

"Will it beat the peanut butter in the pasta?" I grin instead of voicing my thoughts.

"Anything will beat that crap," he snorts.

"Was it that bad?" I ask.

"Yes. You have no idea. You didn't even try the pasta with the cream cheese, so Cassian ate it."

"Did the cream cheese and pasta taste good, though?" I inquire, laying on my stomach.

"He said it was good, but I'm pretty sure he was messing with me."

"Ah. I wonder what it tasted like."

"Well, you would  know, had you not gone and gotten your throat slit open," he points out.

"Fair point," I say.

"Please don't do it again," he sighs.

"I make no promises," I retort, throwing his words right back at him.

"That's my line; you stole my line," Rowan pouts like a child.

"Well, it's mine now," I pout back. "Fite me."

"Is that a challenge?" he grins, propping himself up on an elbow.

"Oh, shit, no, please don't," I plead. "I'm going to lose."

"Okay," he says.

"Hey, don't you think it's weird that we've been here for four days and no one's tried to turn us into blood-air?"

"They aren't going to bother us," he says firmly.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that," a female voice comes that isn't threatening or menacing at all, and we look up to see a tall woman with dark brown hair and pine-green eyes step into the light.

"Who are you?" I ask. "What do you want?"

"Nothing, really. But Rowan should recognize me," she says.
