"Sorry about him," Jun said, showing you to a hidden elevator. "He's not usually that... uh..."
"Ill-tempered?" You offer.
"I was gonna say 'childish'," Kuro meowed.
"That works too," You say.
"This'll take you out of headquarters," Jun said as you stepped inside. "Sorry again."
You wave as the doors close and the elevator begins to rise.
"I refuse to work with C3. I'll stop Tsubaki on my own, whether you like it or not."
Tsuyuki, whose name you had learned from Jun, had flipped out after you had said that. He had started yelling and shouting as Jun tried to calm him down. When his attempt at peace failed, he grabbed your hand and dragged you away while Tsurugi and Yumi held him back.
Kuro was right, he was pretty childish.
Ding
The elevator doors opened once more, but this time, on the opposite side, where there had previously been no doors.
"And once again, C3 has found a way to throw all logic out the window," You mutter, stepping outside.
Kuro hopped down from your shoulder and landed on the ground. "You get used to it." He meowed, stretching his stiff joints.
It took you a second to fully realize where you were, and when you did, you resisted the urge to groan.
You were at the train station. The same train station that you had walked past hundreds of times before.
You turned back around and found that the elevator doors had shut once again, and for some unknown reason, there was no down button.
"Well, look who we have here,"
You turned your head and saw a man walking toward you. He wore a brown hat, a yellow scarf, black boots, a brown vest with a white long-sleeve shirt underneath, and a brown backpack was that was larger than him. Three orange clip-on plaits hung down from the back of his head, while a lock of his blond hair fell across his face. A black snake was coiled around his neck, a yellow cross on its back.
'Eccentric' wasn't even close to describing him.
Your eyes zeroed in on the horned doll that he held in his hand. It had a red dress on that had white frills at the bottom and brown hair that was tied into two long braids. Its hat was the same as the one the man wore.
All of a sudden, the man wrapped his arms around the doll as if trying to shield it. "Stop checkin' out my Abel!! She's a doll, you freak!!" He yelled.
There was a moment of silence as the two of you stared at each other.
"Nope," You said, spinning around and walking in the direction of the entrance of the station.
"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" the man shouted.
"Anywhere as long as you're not there!" You yell back.
"Hey, (Y/n), wait," Kuro said, pawing at the bottom of your pants.
"No way. We're going home and I'm taking a 24-hour nap," You say.
"But that's-"
"I don't care who that is!" You say, picking Kuro up. "I have had enough of all this excitement! All I want is to be able to sleep without having to worry about being chased, or kidnapped, or attacked, or-- actually, that's about it."
"That's Doubt Doubt," Kuro said, squirming out of your grasp. "He's the SerVamp of Envy."
You stop. "The blond dude is the SerVamp of Envy?"
