Hey, guys. Sorry about not updating in a while. Things have been really... busy, lately.
Ugh, who am I kidding? Why am I sugarcoating this?
EVERYTHING'S BEEN TERRIBLE.
I'm... I'm moving. My family is packing up and moving 1282.8 miles away from the only place I've ever known.
We have to pack our things up, and my Mom's been selling so many things because we can't fit everything into the moving truck. She's painting the rooms these awful colors that buyers will like. I've packed-up pretty much all of my stuff, and my room feels so empty. We had this Aga, it's a big oven, not common here in America, they're mostly found in the U.K., and she was always on. Yes, she has a gender, no, that isn't weird. She was always generating heat, and we rarely turned her off. We had to take her apart and pack her away. We have a new gas stove, and my whole family hates it. It doesn't heat the kitchen, so it's always cold in there. It has gas burners that we have to turn on, and they make a ticking noise that I hate. If you leave them on, they produce a sulfur-like smell, and I did that a few days ago. I made hot chocolate a few days ago, and because our Aga was always on, I never had to worry about leaving her on. When we had her out, all we had to do was open one of her hobs, make the hot chocolate, and then close it. However, after I was done making the hot chocolate, I took the pot off the burner, poured it into a cup, and then went to school. I didn't even turn the flames down. My mom wasn't happy, but she let me off the hook because none of us are used to the stove.
I don't want to move away. I've lived in this town for eleven years, going on twelve, and now we have to move. Far, far away.
I'm leaving my house behind, my neighborhood, my school, and all of my friends.
I've known all of them, for the most part, since kindergarten. And I'm in eighth grade now. That's nine years. Nine, long, years.
I'm especially close to my friends that live in my neighborhood. We used to go biking, and we'd all ride in the street, taking up the entire road. We'd race up and down the streets until we all got tired and split off to go back home. I have one friend who I regularly game with. He'll come over to my house, I'll go over to his house, or we'll just chat on Discord while we play Minecraft, or Cards Against Humanity with a bunch of our friends from school. Me and a girl they know who lives in Oklahoma are the only girls on their Discord server, but we don't care. We play Minecraft and swear, and yell at each other, and then my mom yells at me for being too loud. And then when the weekends' over, we go back to school and hang out there.
That's the biggest reason why I don't want to move. I've made so many friends during the eleven years I've lived here. And now I'm going to have to leave them all behind.
My wife is especially sad about me leaving. By 'wife', I mean one of my best friends who is "married" to me. During first quarter Drama class, we were in a one-act, and she played my characters' wife, and so after that, we just kept referring to each other as "wife".
My mom keeps saying how this is going to be a new adventure, and that the town we live in isn't good anymore.
Here's why:
1. The homeless population is getting out of control, and the city isn't doing anything about it. We have tent cities that take up entire blocks. The homeless leave their trash everywhere and take a dump wherever they please. They smoke and take drugs, and leave needles and cigarette butts anywhere they want.
2. The housing taxes are higher than the satellites, and they keep going up. The city I live in has become an expensive city to live in.
3. The public schools here are terrible. They barely get any funding, so the buildings are usually in bad condition (last year, my schools' forecast was 'cloudy with a chance of falling ceiling tiles'). Plus, all the teachers at my school are either social justice warriors or have a white savior complex. Or both.
Anyway, I'll try to update as much as I can, even with everything as hectic as it is. Sorry if you were hoping for another chapter update. I promise that the next update will be Chapter Fifteen. Oh, and if anyone has had to move before, I'd love to hear any tips you have on how to deal with it emotionally. So, stay awesome, stay sweet, and don't forget to smile. Seeya next chapter. Bye...
